I Agree with Wednesdays comment above, but I come across this account today, The Ultimate P2W final boss, and was genuinely deflated... I pretty much get to mystrium 3/2 most seasons and park, but this, it's just stupid, bgs is pretty fair imo, but seeing this takes it too far, then the draft goes all on their favour, I can quite often take accounts with around 20 R4s (me having 12) with smart bans and a fair draft but not that, it's P2w at its finest. Reminds me of using cheats on a console for more damage and health.. like, if you're that desperate to win you'll pay unbelievable amounts of money for a deck then just have the win, I ain't that desperate that's for sure..
I won many matches with 6* Kingpin and Crossbones even against 7* rank 4 mutant defenders

That doesn't even address my point. I'm saying there is literally no way to win against some defenders without counters, at that point it's just luck of the draw. I'm sorry if I didn't make that clear in my original post, but this is my main point.
In the earlier seasons of bgs it felt like actual competitive gameplay, obviously p2w roster difference still existed, but for the most part it wasn't about always having the perfect counters. I'd get wins with nova vs. photon, vox vs. korg, etc. These are not either champ's ideal matchups or either defender's counters, but they still worked as long as the user had the skill to play around the need for the counter.
You just cannot do this against any of the new line of defenders. You NEED their cookie cutter counters or else you lose the round, there's no point in playing the round, you already know you lost before even expressing your skill by fighting.
Why is it broken
This is entire point of BGs. It's a competition of your roster vs your opponents. Regardless if you have a counter to a defender or not.
Are you forgetting that this is a fighting game? You also have to fight the opponent defender, it's not just a d*** measuring contest on who has a better roster. It's about finishing the fights as fast as possible and as healthy as possible, while getting the opponent defender down. Which used to be down to player skill AND draft, but is now down to mostly getting the correct draft.
No matter your skill level you won't be finishing a serpent/ yelena in time with high hp unless you use a counter. And these counters are so cookie cutter that they make these fights a joke, there is very little skill involved even when you use them, their kits completely shut these defenders down.
The majority of people on this thread can’t read and process anything.
OP’s criticism is not that the mode isn’t competitive, it’s that BGs has become a competitive card game.

So in your opinion Champs like Britain that are not hard at all to fight but have unavoidable damage/stalling and that hardly have any counters (or one's that do her within a reasonable time) is healthy for the game mode?
Agreed. This isn't true competition. The fights may as well be auto-play. They are defined by the strength of your champs, which is defined by either your spending or how much you've spent playing OTHER modes of the game.
A true competitive mode should have you both play with the SAME exact two champs, but they switch sides over two fights. First you fight Spider-Man with Iron Man, then you fight Iron Man with Spider-Man. Whoever gets the most points in the same exact fight scenario wins.

It's how the game has run all along. Champs are released, some rise and some don't. Counters are released, and no Champs stay on top forever. In fact, that's the point. Not to have Champs stay on top forever.
Its never been that no previous champs worked to counter. There was always some way around it, either with an immunity, AAR, with skill they could be managed, and it was fun because you needed to be good. Then counters came out. These new champs have boss nodes in their kit and remove the skill completely from the game which makes the game boring. You can argue till your blue in the face but its on every thread. They have taken to the point its killing the game.
