For the first image, there is a bug at least on PC where if you open and close the character menus on after you win/lose a fight before your opponent, you can then still open and close the menus on the next screen when choosing.

a temp fix for controller is that the buttons still work to open the menus so you just have to press the open menu button again.

It happened on mobile phone.... It stucked after selection of players for third round where I was in a better position.
