Would this even make him that much more meta relevant? Better against Dust and Bishop but there’s still better options, admittedly quite useful for Captain Britain, and it means he could potentially nuke Onslaught but he’ll also probably take some good Neuroshock damage on the way out so again not really the best option. The major difference is that he’d work against all those Shock Immunity nodes Kabam throws around, but let’s be real those were in place specifically for Nimrod so if they gave him this change they’d just start adding Plasma Immunity nodes in their stead.

It feels like Nimrod’s bigger issue is that he really works his best when there’s Regen and Prowess effects for him to convert to Shocks and fuel his ramp, and Kabam has just been moving away from those things on Mutants (made worse that those effects, Prowess in particular, are basically only on Mutants). Plasma isn’t making Nimrod any better against Jean Gray or Gentle for example. If the 7* release doesn’t give him relevance again, I kinda doubt that such a simple change that honestly only affects a few matchups is gonna rocket him up in viability.

I mean Cassandra’s regen is cracked when it begins to stack and Toad’s buff is coming soon so there’s a bit of a silver lining just nothing too crazy. I don’t really think we should be expecting any of these god tiers to be as dominant as they used to be because that’s all in the past and it’s an era I doubt we’ll ever go back to. They’ve desperately been trying to move away from it with all the modern meta relevant defenders

don’t worry about Kabam. They currently have no plans for making this change for nimrod.

Instead, they are planning the roadmap for 2026 where we will see a 5/5 defender every month and a counter every other month 👍

I don’t quite believe either that Nimrod is completely out of the meta (I think the 7* stat boost will help a lot) or that this suggested buff wouldn’t help him, I’m just questioning the line of thought that this singular change would push him into the spotlight if the release as a 7* doesn’t. As you mentioned, Cassandra and the upcoming Toad buff give some hope that Nimrod won’t be out of prey, but unless Toad’s buff gives him Shock immunity for some reason those are two more defenders for whom Nimrod doesn’t care about having Shocks vs. Plasmas. In fact, Cassandra’s the one champ that makes this suggested change not a strict buff, because her kit rewards you for inflicting Shocks specifically.

Like, let’s be real, how many Mutants are there that actually make Nimrod’s Shocks a liability, and how many of those Mutants are a) notable defenders, b) deal significantly worse with Plasma, and c) would suddenly be very vulnerable to Nimrod with Plasma. That list is definitely countable on one hand that had an unfortunate accident with a power tool.

Nimrod Was already falling with the mutant defenders we had but now they're making defenders like captain britain. Definitely an overrated /overhyped champ (and a lot of those people probably hyped iBom and Apoc too]

Bro you want a gazillion new muties with plasma immune that make champs like jack and maker useless as well?

The problem with nimrod is he completely shut off muties of his time with completely removing regen and prowess (his prowess removal is still best I must say) and with insane damage and tankiness against mutants.
He still can take out any mutant that doesn't punish shock, but ask yourself why do we have so many muties that counter shock, because of nimrod.

Someone mentioned bout gentle and jean, nimmy can absolute take them out, they are not defenders that need a counter, they are defenders that are easier with counter. you just have to playa round, nimrod already has the damage. He is good against cassandra too. The only meta defenders he suck is onsyy and cap brit. But now we have many techs who can do what nimrod can do, quite better, like jack or bastion. So he is not special anymore.
