Auto Fights

When I use auto-play to clear fights in the Daily Quest, I’ve noticed that my Rank 4, 7★ champions deal almost no damage to defenders. But when I play the fights manually, my attacks hit much harder and the fights end quickly.

Auto-play shouldn’t affect a champion’s attack rating, so why does it feel like my damage drops so much when the AI is fighting?
