just curious, and definitely not asking to rush, but is there any update on this Dev Diary regarding the Energy economy and prestige 30 you mentioned 1.5 months ago?

I know it's probably a longer one, so again, not asking for it to be rushed. Just very interested.

That's a shame. I always look forward to your deep dives. I was particularly looking forward to the prestige 30.

Personally I wasn't too happy with the change since I've been focusing more on champ acquisition rather than rank up materials and sig stones (been chasing 7* Onslaught since he came out :'(. And I never focused on prestige champions as it was always more useful for me to rank up champions that were either really good on attack, defense, or both. A lot of my Rank 3's and even some Rank 4's were/are unduped or low sig because some just don't need it to be competitive.

So when this change was made it felt like I was being punished for my choice of pursuits in rewards. I saw players with smaller roosters (but a higher high end roster) and less skill than me earn more in the adaptive EQ because of the prestige tiers.

I've noticed that this has had a negative effect on my own habits and feelings towards rank ups and sig stones. Champions who I would normally not use sig stones on received a large amount of sig stones just so I could reach a higher tier. I used some AG's I was saving for some other champs to get to higher prestige tiers. I've also been pushing off the EQ until as far into the month as I can in the hopes of moving up another tier before the next update. Which means that the EQ is over my head the whole month and it's a big rush to finish it at the end. A good example of this is Galan. Competitively It doesn't make sense to invest in Galan's sig past 58. But if Galan is one of my top 30 then it's tempting to essentially waste sig stones on him. Other champions are good at sig 1 like Shang-Chi or Hyperion.

I feel that this change has just ignored players' preferences for building their rosters how they'd like to. And tiered rewards for EQ really rub me the wrong way because of the Rich get Richer effect. Before, I was earning the same rewards as every other valiant. Now I am probably in the middle after using rank ups, sig stones, and AGs I was saving for other champs.

I can't just rank up champs for utility, attack, defense, or fun. I need to consider prestige which doesn't factor at all into a champion's usefulness in most of the contest.

I understand that being a couple of tiers lower than another player might not mean much in the long run since the difference in rewards are relatively close. But that doesn't mean the difference is 0.

I appreciate that the daily quests replaced the arduous and time consuming autofighting of the lower EQ difficulties but that isn't to say they didn't have their uses. I used to use them to practice dexing the specials of the new champions. I would take a bulky 7* against the 3*s and let them wail on me building power until I could dex their specials more often than not. And since the old EQ lasted all month and there was no difference in doing it at the beginning or end of the month, it meant I could do the autofighting at my own pace. Typically I would do it in big chunks at once any time of the month. But now the daily quests force me to play at it's pace. Just once a day. Can't miss a day or I miss out on units and other very useful resources.

Obviously the sinical view on all of this is that it gets players to "waste" more materials on a wider part of the contest forcing players to supplement with purchasing more materials. It also incentivizes players to engage more often on a reinforced daily basis. I understand these from a business perspective and can't fault the method but it unfortunately has soured my feeling towards the game in general these past couple of months.

So I was hoping to see that dev diary to see if I'm looking at it the wrong way or if there is something I'm missing. I know I'm not the only one as most of my alliance mates feel similar and I must assume it's the same for a significant portion of the player base.
