Is this an Apple or Kabam concern?
When I first started playing MCOC in August 2016, I was using an iPhone 6s Plus. MCOC worked perfectly on that device. Battery life even on that much older iPhone worked half a day at minimum. Then I started an alt account when I got an iPhone 10 Max in 2020. On both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 10, the game worked like a charm.
Fast forward 2024, I bought an iPhone 13 to replace my iPhone 6 which was already having all sorts of problems BUT MCOC still worked fine on it. On the iPhone 13, MCOC was probably the perfect mobile gaming experience.
Then this year 2025, I upgraded my iPhone 6 to iOS 12, my iPhone 10 to iOS 16, my iPhone 13 to iOS 26.
Strangely enough, MCOC still worked pretty well on my iPhone 6 but started having serious lag issues on my iPhone 10. On my iPhone 13, it generally works fine but the battery which used to last at least 6-8 hours while playing can barely last 4 hours now before completely dying. And it heats up to the point that the phone is too hot to hold.
Needless to say, MCOC has become almost unplayable on my iPhone 10 and now is starting to become difficult to play on my iPhone 13 because of battery life and severe overheating issues. (Both my iPhone 10 and 13 have newly replaced batteries just this year, btw).
I am wondering if this is an isolated case and if other iPhone users are experiencing the same thing. It’s just sad that instead of having a better experience with newer devices and later operating systems that the game experience worsened instead of improving. Is the Kabam game dev team making strides to make sure that MCOC players will be able to continue enjoying the game on their older devices?
Or do we need to start investing in the latest gadgets to make MCOC “run as intended.”
