They've spoken about the ban. They said it's the communities fault. (Which is both true and not true)
As for compensation, maybe they'll do something but they dont really have to. Everyone who should have gotten the drops got them already
I must have missed something. Can you clarify why itβs the communities fault?
Dealing with watching 12 hours of stream for one Titan crystal for startersβ¦
People were b*tching that they weren't able to get drops because they weren't able to attend the streams (you know. The thing youre supposed to do to get drops) so to placate the whiners kabam went against twitch TOS and did replays so people would shut up and got banned for it.
Where its kabams fault is that no one wanted twitch drops in the first place and they already had a promo code system that was not as time sensitive and that everyone liked but their greed ruined everything for everyone yet again
Little review on the evolution of livestreams:
When livestreams were introduced to the game, it was a different way to engage the community with information, it was a great way to show cool stuff, have a insights of what was comming and interact with our community managers. It has changed, how?
1- The stream was simple, showing charts, showing info. Now? A lot of people complaining about the infomercial quality, the focus is not longer engagings the community; but more of announcing the sales that are coming.
2- Player engagement, it was simple. You watch you get a promo code, you enter it and you got some goodies. The only drama? Sometimes there was complaints about no promo codes. Promocodes got replaced with the excuse of "We want players who legitimately watch to be rewarded", newsflash a lot of people just leave it in the background and then read the recap. The solution works on theory, people not interested still get their way.
3- Twitch drops, different timezones rightfully complained, they decided to find a solution without even researching if it was ok to give drops on replays or not, this has happened for months and finally got punished for it. All this over the obsession that "People have to watch!", while a lot just keep a device streaming in the background and the outcome is basically the same. They created this monster on their own from the get go, why you may ask? Even for the right timezone expecting working adults, young adults, students or children to be genuinely watching on a Friday morning or afternoon during school or work hours is beyond stupid.
4- Lets not forget of the time they decided to show a previously recorded video and call it a livestream....
Kabam, you turned a very good tool to engage the community into a space to advertise, this is all your doing. The difference between the previous community managers and the current ones is as wide as an ocean. I am not saying one was better than the other, the only feeling I have is that Jax and Miike actually fought for the player over bad decisions, maybe it was for their own benefit because they didn't want to deal with the negativity that bad news follow. Nowadays I can't see a single hint of someone trying to defend the player interest. The Summoner fest was a clear example. The expectation of having a funcioning adult, teenager or even a kid in front of a screen for 12 hours over a weekend was so out of touch its beyond understanding.
TLDR: Do better, if you see an idea challenge it, question it and put yourself in the players shoes and ask yourself if its even a good idea.
Exactly. And that's where it's their fault. The community never wanted the drops in the first place
I really like a nice stream and I don't think wanting to see the brains behind the game to put on a show for everyone to see and interact with as "greedy". Ofcourse, Promo codes were 100% better than twitch drops and twitch drops should have never existed in the first place, there were always compensations and double compensations due to twtich drops. I see the point you make, but I hope kabam will do more livestreams (preferably on Youtubefrom now on).
I get wanting to reward people for tuning in but just do promo codes from here on out. There are too many legitimate concerns with time zones and even if the system is relatively fair (pretty easy to tune into Summoner's fest regardless of what time zone you're in) there will be people complaining for missing out. By saying replays will go up all week so you can get your Titan it takes the onus off of actually tuning into the event when it's going on. Time should have been six hours (so you could just tune in one day rather than needing two) for the Titan and no replay.
I feel like Kabam has been too afraid to upset the player base any more than they already have by saying "we're doing this specific thing only at this specific time, if you miss out you miss out".
They do steam on YouTube, you just can't get drops there.
Sort of. The comments from Dave about them restreaming for us were in response to two people accusing them of view farming, and calling it sadistic to "force" us to watch for 12 hours.
Otherwise they take full responsibility.
that makes sense. Thought it was something else. Luckily, I got mine over the weekend. It was easy enough to do. Leave it playing while you did other things, lol
It wasn't the drops. People thought it was and complained about it on the post. Here is the info from discord post
π₯² It was just 43 minutes. Whatever I guess. They could've just enabled drops on any channel (person) that streams the game. People who missed out on these drops could've gotten them then. I think Marvel Rivals has a system like that.
Iam stuck at 84%
Due to I have a full time job and talk life I wasn't able to watch the steam all in one, instead I tuned in piece by piece.
But from now on how will I get my titan crystal reward???
"Nowadays I can't see a single hint of someone trying to defend the player interest." I don't think people realize that I spend most of my day pouring everything into trying to create the best possible experience for our players; whether it pertains to livestreams, Summoners Fest, or the game in itself. It's honestly pretty deflating. Regardless, The game features frequent sales, this is just how it's structured - so when I preview what's coming next month, it can sometimes feel like an "infomercial" - especially if you haven't tuned in for a while. I've taken this feedback to heart in recent months and scaled back on highlighting sales during streams, but I still need to keep everyone informed about the major ones ahead here and there. But, when I do, I highlight the most optimal player loop and what things can be obtained for free. As for Twitch Drops, we're going to be continuing them - it's a common practice across many games, and earning free rewards simply by watching feels like a fair trade-off to me. I get the concern that "some folks don't want to watch streams," and that's totally valid; no one's obligated. But for those who do enjoy it, Drops are a way to reward that time and engagement - it's not just a random giveaway. To make them more accessible, we tried to add restreams for anyone juggling work, other commitments, or time zones. At this point, we're exploring additional paths to these rewards, but promo codes fall flat on interaction. They often just devolve into copying a code from Discord, Line, or elsewhere, which misses the whole point of this system, especially as I'm trying to add more game value into the rewards.
Iβm still waiting on Kabam sent the screenshots of all drops claimed when viewed live streams but wasn't sent to my game account
First I want to recognize the work the community managers do. I believe you all put in a lot of effort, which isn't always appreciated by the players who tend to focus on too much negativity. I am also not absolving myself of that either, which is why I say thank you now.
Secondly, I want to add a little "old guy" perspective. I have children who are young adults, and I watch and understand how they like to obtain their information. The vast majority of the time this is through pictures/videos on instagram or tiktok or the like. And I will also admit that my demographic is less likely to be the majority that needs to be targeted for information dissemination. With all that being said, watching videos for information is the last thing I want to do. If I want to know something I want to spend 30 seconds reading a synopsis or 10 seconds with an infographic. I just don't have time waste.
This is purely my perspective, and maybe mine alone, but I suspect there are others out there that would be much happier if we just got a blurb to read. Thanks again for your hard work and consideration. Cheers to a smoother future!
I have tuned in, it still feels like an informercial, did it tone down a bit from the initial complaints? Yes it has just a bit. I have no problem with the company selling something; but the first streams were different, they were simple and more informative than an attempt to advertise.
I am not against the drops; but it seems like the intention of the drops are used to keep the person watching, that's why they were used as an alternate route to promo codes. I am just pointing out the obvious that people who don't want to watch are still getting the rewards, all Kabam is getting is a stat of +1 "viewer", so its not really a solution when the outcome is exactly the same. Its only affecting people on different timezones.
Hey its the company's decision after all, not blaming you for following what they demand or doing what you are asked for. When I say you I mean all of you not you as in Osarus Rex. I am just surprised no one questioned the 12 hrs to hit the final milestone, not even talking about watching the 12 hours which I doubt many did, just the expectation of having someone with a device on connected for 12 hours even as backgrounds noise.
Bring the charts guy back!!!
Come on guys
These folks at Kabam worked Monday to Friday den worked on Sat and Sun for Summoner Fest den returned to work on Monday to Friday
That's 12 days straight of working without an off day (I assume they get an extended holiday break at the end of the year to make up for it)
Give these guys a break online and stop complaining about free rewards
It can be disheartening for them to read negative complaints after putting up such a wonderful show, nowhere over the 2 days did I hear any sales talk from all the speakers and hosts
They could have promoted Cyber Sales or Banquet Sales but they chose not to talk about it, instead they focused on pure entertainment and passion for the game
It's a lot of effort to put up almost 16 hours of livestream and in person event
Let's spread positivity and congratulate them on putting up such an awesome show for all of us
My personal wish is that they continue to hold such live event annually
100%
So a post was just made indicating we could watch any channel that's livestreaming MCOC? That seems⦠off.
How so? We decided this would be the best way to allow the most folks to finish up their drops watch time, plus benefit MCOC content creators and perhaps introduce folks to some new ones. We feel its a bit of a win all round given the circumstances, but we might have missed something and if so Id love to hear it!
Seems like a fair compromise to let people watch streamers. I'm not a big streaming guy but I watched a lot of summoners fest live and actually enjoyed it quite a bit. All in all, job well done and thanks for the rewards.
For those complaining just don't watch it then. There's always breakdowns after. It's not that hard. I can't imagine spending all my time complaining on the forums of a game I hate.
Any thought given to extending the deadline? I got my 12 hours in live but I know a lot of people were unable to.
I complain on the forum of a game I love.
As far as I understand it once the campaign is live we can't edit the end date sadly. We looked at that briefly but it was a no go
still waiting nearly 5 days on a reply from Kabam team about the drops
the replay is back up on twitch not sure itβs working for the twitch drops though. Iβll update in an hour if itβs still active
