We really need something from you Kabam

This summoner fest was great, the tournament was almost perfect but MASSIVELY highlights how f*cked Battlegrounds is, how aware Kabam are and how unwilling they are to fix it.

All the additions they introduced shows exactly what the current state of BGs is in game; Omega pools so everyone doesnt run the same r4s, multiple rerolls so the match has more focus on skill rather than 'f*ck you i pulled serpent and you didnt' and the sp1, sp2 focus so they didn't spend 20-seconds baiting a special attack.

So Kabam are more than aware of how they are ruining the game mode so why is there ZERO attempt to fix it?

These are all issues the players have raised for months, if not years, and you are clearly capable so why the f*ck are you not doing more?

Honestly, the lack of effort you guys put into this game it is an absolute miracle its survived 10-years, we arent going to actually see 11 ascensions in game if you cant get your sh*t together

It's a good thing Kabam is changing BG soon. There's going to be a little league and the big league so anyone who wants to play a more even playing field will have that option. The rewards will be different between the two leagues but that is expected. See, Kabam will listen once in a while.

The Battleground Brawl was a very specific tournament with rules specifically intended for a tournament environment. The Battlegrounds we see in the game is a game mode that is part of a progressional game. The rules are different because those two things are completely different.

We give the Brawl competitors far more agency over roster because you do not build upon the Brawl roster. You go in, use what is there, and then leave. The BG game mode is not like that because its sole purpose for existing is to support and integrate with the rest of the game. It is there to encourage roster growth. It is there to gain rewards for progression. We go in with our rosters, and we use the rewards from the mode to continue to grow our rosters. If we all used the same rosters, there would be no way to improve our ability to compete within the mode. Most of the point of it existing in the first place would be gone. This is explicitly why BG doesn't use deck matching. When BG used deck matching we could all just create 4* decks and essentially have every champ in the game maxed out. But then what would be the point to ranking up anything, if those rank ups never actually helped us in BG, especially for players who focus on BG?

Kabam has put a lot of effort into improving and refining BG. Your problem is your problems are your problems. They aren't the game's problems. Kabam has put zero effort into fixing your problems not because they are lazy, but because they don't want BG to be whatever fever dream you want it to be. They aren't avoiding making it what you want. They are actively deliberately avoiding that. Heck, half the stuff you want we used to have, and Kabam invested time and energy in actively removing those things from the game.

And by the way, if BG is so messed up, how did those guys even get to Vancouver? How is it that a game mode that is such a dumpster fire by your apparent assessment end up somehow distilling only the ultra high skill players into the Brawl? You're focused on the Brawl rules, but you do not seem to have an explanation for how eight players with different in-game roster strength and only two shots to qualify somehow get lucky enough to make it. If luck is more important than skill, why wasn't I up there? Why wasn't it some random Thronebreaker, of which there are far more of them than end gamers, or just the top eight spenders in the game? How did a game mode that you claim is broken and lacks focus on skill somehow magically select eight of the highest skill players in the game to compete in a tournament in the first place?

That is, ultimately, what a competition is supposed to do. Find the best competitors. If the game mode is broken, it should have failed in its one job. Did it? Didn't seem like it to me.

Because its a game mode all about rosters and they all had the same rosters, without the change it would have been boring. Ah yes, I completely forgot. I'm apparently also a secret Kabam employee. Pretty sure I've been getting that one since 2018.

It is a silly accusation, but it is especially glaringly ludicrous when targeting me. There is no one less likely to be a secret Kabam employee on the forums than me, for two main reasons:

One: most of my posts are explainers. If I were an actual dev, my posts would carry far more weight. It would be illogical for me to lie about actually being a Kabam employee, because that would be counter productive.

Two: among the jobs I might be qualified to do at Kabam, secret forum cheerleader would be the worst one. Rarely do I post favorable reviews of new features, unless prompted to do so. Generally I'm posting about problems, and specifically recommending changes. That doesn't seem like Kabam would be getting their money's worth. In fact, I'm also a pretty lousy marketeer of the game monetization. I've probably single handedly cost Kabam more money than all the organized boycotts combined, between stuff like my solo alliance guides, my unit grinding guides, and my alliance war revive proposal.

Getting back to your previous post, you say I "come so hard" at the OP and "gas light" him but all I did was reply to him. That's what I do when I read a post and decide it is worth discussing at all. Many posts aren't, and generally unless I'm calling the poster an idiot, I don't think replying, even to disagree, is problematic. The worst thing you can do to someone is not disagree with them, it is ignore them completely. Which to be frank, I should have done with your post, but I'm only human and sometimes the impulse to point out that a ludicrous post is, in fact, coming from a ludicrous poster gets the better of me. But that moment has past, and I'll go back to giving you the proper amount of the attention you deserve.

While it would be cool to have multiple chances to reroll (weren't they supposed to be changing it so we couldn't get the same champs when we do, anyways?), a super stupidly stacked deck with all the cool options I don't currently have (still can't dupe my nico, Jean, yelena, Swoman for the life of me) and have a sp1/2 bias i guess (how many sp3's do you actually get smashed by to bring that one up?) The fact is that the guys that made it to the brawl played by the exact same rules the rest of us did to get to the brawl. Sam's deck building options, same meta's, same champ options, same amount of recollection, etc....

There just better than we are.

I kinda agree with some, but the only big difference you may have in bgs is roster, everything else both sides have to deal with. I'd be happy with 1 season in half a year with only bg currencies in rewards and only 3* champs allowed

I completely understand the Brawl being tailored differently but this can be done through access to all champions at the highest level/rarity, the best of 5/7 and the nodes that most players would really struggle with.

My point is they also had to implement quality of life adjustments, ie multiple rerolls, limiting the toxic defenders (90% of the Omega champions were defenders) and the nodes increasing the chance of AI performing certain commands, sp1 and sp2 bais.

You say these are 'my problems' but they arent, I don't know how involved in the community you are outside of the forums but I am in dozens of Line chats with t1 allies, BG allies, I speak to the players who finish in Celestial every season I compete at mysterium level these are issues everybody is facing. Even Andy made comments on the draft in normal BGs being the deciding factor in many matches.

I have 20 r4 champions and every player I come across has the same damn champions at r4, there is so little variety bevause you NEED to have the toxic defenders and you NEED to have a counter and since Kabam are plaguing us with them, half the decks have 5/5 defenders and the rest are there to specifically counter them, this isn't fun, it's the same matches over and over again and having something like the Omega Pool would fix this.

On top of this, Kabam are well aware the AI is f*cked, as shown with sp1, sp2 bias and yet we're are currently in a meta where you are forced to intercept and yet there's no aggression node? I have played far too many matches where the AI REFUSES to dash ar me, how can intercept and passive AI? So i lose because I do 80% less damage than my opponent who got an aggressive AI, it is laziness or incompetence, they know there's a problem with the AI and are doing nothing to help the situation now

BGs has become 85% draft, 15% skill, those who finish at the top and qualified for the Brawl spent money on having the meta defenders at r4, that combined with them having the ability to play 99% of their matches perfect is what got them there but I have seen streams where Andy himself with play for several hours and lose more than he wins simply because of the draft, unwinnable matches are far too common and thats a huge problem with BGs for most players

Just to add to this, I don't think I saw a single round in the Brawl where the matches was decided instantly by the draft.

The restriction of the toxic defenders combined with multiple rerolls meant every draft was fair and allowed them all to rest on skill over who got the best defenders and that is exactly what they need to add to the mainstream game.

I can see where you're coming from, but I think I come from the opposite perspective: I think a lot of the changes to BGs during the Brawl were great (on that we agree, I believe), but rather than becoming angry at Kabam, that makes me hopeful for the future of BGs. I think the Omega Pools was a very neat idea. I agree with you about how everyone at the top(ish) have pretty much the same champions. I'm nowhere near Celestial (I'm more of an Arcane dude), but people still focus on roughly the same champions no matter how many of them you have at r4. You can rank up the odd fun champ every once in a while, but you really need to rank up pretty much the same champs as everyone else if you want to remain competitive. That's kinda boring, and I think bringing the Omega Pools to regular BGs could help solve that. Just something to help shake things up so that we're not just constantly fight the same r4 defenders again and again and again.

I have some hope for the future of BGs because there does seem to be some great things in the pipeline for the mode, but man, it was rough for a couple of years where it felt as if nothing was happening. I feel like the introduction of Radiance was a little weird since the new and shiny premium currency landed squarely in the three most boring and neglected areas of the game: BGs, AQ and AW. It feels as if Kabam are slowly working on improving all of those modes, but I also think that there will have to be pretty massive strides made in order to make any of them actually enjoyable. I do enjoy BGs, but I don't enjoy grinding BGs. Meanwhile, I absolutely loathe both regular AQ and AW. I do enjoy Raids and I liked the Big Format AW or whatever it was called, that we had for one season a few months ago. But just regular AQ and AW? Snooooooooze!

I 100% respect this, the Brawl did bring me hope without a doubt because it truly shows that Kabam understand what they need to do to improve the game mode.

The frustration comes from all the false promises, we're coming into 3-years of BGs and appart from swapping and changing the number of metas we have a season and the brackets the GC nothing has changed.

we have 'non competitiveness' coming that is tailored for those who are more relaxed players, in the nicest possible way I can say this, im sick of Kabam prioritising casual players 😂 Crashed himself even admitted last year was heavily focused on new players, then apologised for neglecting the longer lasting players, promised a bunch of changes to BGs and implanted nothing.

The Brawl shows the potential, but Kabam are too incompetent to implement these changes.

I think the most important thing they can do is add SP1 and SP2 bias like in the brawl. Apart from getting out-drafted, the defender taking 20-30+ seconds to throw a special is one of the most frustrating things that can happen and it happens often.

Adding multiple rerolls would be an easy win, along with adding more/making them cheaper in the bgs store. Changing the single draft to an option of 5 would be nice too I think.

This last meta was great. I got back from a 1+ year break, was able to grind 5 r4s and I have 22k prestige. I am going to finish in arcane after not being able to get past 30 GC trophies in the skill meta because my deck simply wasn't good enough. I could go against a deck of 20 r4s and still win in this meta if I played well which added a lot of joy to the mode.

Omega pools would be kind of nice but whitelist/blacklist could kill a small deck. I think those two are not nearly as important as SP bias and making the defenders a little more aggressive in general with heavies and dashing

The Balcklist/Whitelist is ****, for BGs it punishes your rank ups just like it does in war which is probably why it was never introduced.

But having to select 6 of the top 30 champs im game for example would be so much better, so much more variety
