I undestand the decision. However i will not pay another subscription :( video on demand services are already way too expensive. Wishing the best for ankh
Nothing is free in this world
The quality of work that Kabam should provide for players but doesn't
Honestly - Kabam should help support it. Not suggesting they fully fund it, but given the complexity of the game a tool like this is really needed for the community. Thanks to Ankh for all the hard work on this - it really is a great tool.
Time to figure out how to hack an mcoc guide site.
Bro does not understand business or his potential market at all
Actually no one even needs to hack it. Literally 1 person just needs to screenshot everything or capture the pages and then everyone has it
Welp, it was great whilst it lasted! Did just now see this other site floating around, seems pretty new and doesn't look as snazzy but has all the info too: https://cocpit.org/ So I think i'll be making the swap over to there incase I ever need to look something up
That entire announcement reeks of ChatGPT
corrected/redacted
Are you sure on that? I think what you might be looking at is how much he EARNS per month, not what it COSTS. Seems like his options are 4.50, 9, and 18 bucks
oh you’re right. Patreon options are 5. 10, 20, 35, 50.
Well at least they'll have 100% support now. 6 supporters for 6 users.
I liked antmai better... I'd support auntmai if the guy had support option. But not this Khonshu, its laggy. Auntmai never was. Auntmai was superior by miles. The interface was much more friendly. Khonsu always felt overworked.
Rip aunt. Rip khonsu. Ggs.
why dont just consider put ads over the website tho?
I believe with no doubt this website is worth the support. It is MASSIVE in what it provides to the community. But unfortunately with the way people are … no one wants to pay for anything … everyone wants something for noting.
I'll support because quite frankly if there's anything worth it in MCOC land, it's this website. Hopefully enough people think so to keep it going because I'd hate to lose the resource. Development like this is expensive and I don't mind at all throwing a few Starbucks coffees away for something that's pretty damn valuable in the gameshere of MCOC.
We all should.
No. You have a fundamental misunderstanding of this. People only use this site because it is free, easy to use, and up to date. Now that it is being charged for, a significant number of people will not care about it anymore and go elsewhere for the information. Hell, we can even go on Kabam's own website for this info if we feel like it.
i don't spend on the game, I'm certainly not going to spend on a third party site I use once or twice a month.
There is definitely a huge need for this information since there are a few of these third party sites and they're very popular. I wish kabam made their own official version because it would be extraordinarily helpful
I'm not typing cocpit into my browser.
Yeah same here. I only use Ankh to get a quick breakdown of which attacks are physical or energy for specific champs. I actually don't know where Ankh pulls that info from unless he's just guessing.
Do you not know what it takes to run a site like that? The information is already free. It's just not organized for you. The amount of time that's put into that is very high. I'm surprised it took this long. It's time consuming and expensive.
I know exactly what it takes to run a site like that. I also know that a site like that isnt exactly necessary as like you said. We have the information. It's just not organized.
I also know the target audience for the site and hardly anyone outside of content creators (who are going to give us the info for free btw) are going to pay for the site.
I could literally pull all of the information, images, and most of the code from khonshus ankh right now, organize it, and make it public in a Google sheet or something for free
While true, somebody brought a good point: if he’s using Kabam Assets to “paywall” this information, he may open himself to a lawsuit from Kabam
on top of the fact that Ankh isn’t the first community site: there’s been AuntM.ai, now COCPit and MCOC.gg. We’ll see how long this lasts
The creator be like -
Mcoc.gg is still free and it isn't constantly begging you for donations. The site is also pretty similar imo
I think like what @ahmynuts said
Everything take time and resources, and people should monetise to helpnwith the upkeep.
However it is important to know your audience and what would be an effective way to generate money.
I would of thought Ads would have been a more workable way especially know that type of audience that would use this site.
Can't fault the guy(s) behind the site for the decision since even the most basic info they put up must be pretty time-consuming, and they've additionally begun to build even more in-depth stuff that, if they get it up to snuff, will be an incredibly helpful piece of community-service. I think that the site, objectively speaking, is probably worth the price of admission.
Will I pay that price of admission? No, I don't think so. I already try to juggle a lot of monthly payments to various services and the cut has to fall somewhere, and unfortunately Ankh now finds itself on the wrong side of that axe.
But I wish them the best. Their service to the community has been immeasurable. Maybe I revisit my decision sometime in the future, depending on how things turn out and if they manage to realize their visions. Because like I said, they seem to have some really cool ideas both cooking right now and planned for the future.
It's amazing how much people will spend on this game then can't spare $3 for a site that benefits them daily. Fantastic community.
When the free versions inevitably go away, we can all look in the mirror for who to blame (minus the 14 people who supported).
aunt mai was definitely better. I was never a fan of that konshu site
That's the reality of e-business. The money isn't even necessarily an issue, but paywalling comes with giant psychological hurdles that most people don't agree with, selfishly or not.
You could have the best free site, but if one day you REQUIRE an email signup just to be able to use it (it's still free), there will be a significant number of people who stop using it just for being inconvenienced, and it gets worse if you involve money (even $1 a month).
In the eyes of many, the difference between FREE and $1 a month is huge, it's bigger than $1 a month vs $100 a month.
I wish Kabam would update their official site to display the info in Ankh. A summary of the immunities, incoming synergies from other champs and sig ability scaling would be more than enough for most
