BASE POOL CRYSTAL COMPENSATION - A SUGGESTION FOR A BETTER FIX

Hello all,

I will not sugar coat it and cut straight to the chase.

There is a "relatively simple" and better way to go about with the compensation for today's base pool update issue.

Keeping in mind the "Zola Titan" incident, and the goal of not benefiting player who happened to open a "bugged" crystal, here is my suggestion, based on the same protocol used with the Zola Titan:

- all players who open base pool crystals in the 24 hours period counting from the update will get compensated
- players who opened the "bugged crystal" get a 1:1 "fixed crystal"
- players who opened the "fixed crystal" get a 1:1 "bugged crystal"

This way everyone gets the same amount of crystals with the same pool. Also, the people who did wait for the fix to be in place don't get punished with less shards, awakenings, new champs and sigs.

Totally agree with you, the amount of extra titan shards and sig levels is huge, especially for those who have opened so many crystals

I welcome this idea but it's pretty bad for the game economy. Plus, why should we get comp because someone else got comp?

Because you aren’t taking into account the value of 7 stars in general. This wasn’t comp for missing champs alone, you are comping with the chance of the new champs + Titan shards+ sig stones+ opportunity for other champs while letting the affected players keep all that in the first place. If giving everyone 7 stars is game breaking, then giving a subset of players the same comp is also game breaking and creating an unfair advantage. You can’t have it both ways

when is the comp coming out? Also its all type of crystals right becuase I opened class and nexus crystals and no new champs were in pools.

I agree that this is a big advantage especially in a competitive game and I opened 50 post-fix so I'd love if they took OP's idea, but we're basically mad that a very small group got overcompensated and we're missing out.

Game breaking is relative. If a small group did get "game breaking stuff", it effects the economy less than if everyone did. So in a way it's not game breaking because it's not as widespread.

If they took OP's idea they would only be doing it to soothe those who weren't impacted by a bug and it would cost the economy big. How many millions and millions of 7* shards, titan shards, sigs, and awakening gems would Kabam lose out if they did this? This would affect the game a lot more than it affects us.

Do you really see Kabam doing this for us?

It's too fair for players tho. You gotta exploit bugs faster, that's what we are being told by kabam

After some thought I change my mind. Affected players should obviously get comp'd and I understand having to patch it asap to limit damage, but they should really consider some type of fair compensation for those who waited.

If this goes through it only trains the community to exploit the game in these situations. I don't want to sound salty, but this isn't fair. Not a good way to go into Banquet imo.

Why do people keep implying that everyone was ‘exploiting a bug’. Could it not be that people genuinely saved up some crystals, opened them and thought they got unlucky and then found out the crystal was bugged? I saved for 3 months, any type of crystal with a 7*, including 50 7* basics. I don’t spin crystals, everyone knows that means nothing so I diddnt not see the new champs in the spinner. I genuinely opened all my crystals and thought that I got very unlucky. Saw the first discord post after that and was rightfully annoyed.

Diddnt know they would give them compensation that they are going to but I diddnt exploit anything, I genuinely opened crystals that were bugged.

When things have been bugged before I may have been slightly annoyed with kabam, never enough to make endless threads on the forums though.

The problem with the community is that they think they know better than the people that literally have all the data, if you don’t like they handled it, sorry, but not all the people receiving compensation are ‘exploiting a bug’.

Extending the bug and getting everyone else to exploit it, further damaging the game economy is clearly an awful idea.

To those that ‘Can’t continue playing’ because of the way kabam has handled it, Bye.

Current compensation is simply unfair.

People got many dupes and improved their prestige. People could open several additional titan crystals from dupes. What about that?

KT1 on his video got 30k titan shards! And now he will get 30k more? He got many dupes. This is like around 800 sig stones!!!

this is unfair to ones who could not open crystals in these first 15 minutes. This is crazy. Sometimes Kabam ban people who do content first. Sometimes they double the rewards.

I feel sorry for ones who opened crystals earlier. But i am so dissatisfied and disappointed. Chances for me to spend money in cyber deals or gifting event have just decreased to 0. There is no point if other people get compensation for this better than spending couple hundreds of dollars in the store.

The comp is fine but the tuning necessarily isn't and neither is the window and while many didn't exploit it, many others probably did.

If affected users get a 1:1 ratio of bugged to unbugged crystals, maybe everyone else within a certain window should get the same, or at least a different comp substantial enough to make it right, cause there's a ton of sigs, dupes, free awakenings, and titan shards in those crystals and honestly it's not fair.

It's like having a surprise unannounced 2 for 1 crystal sale that only lasted an hour and you had to be there to get it. Naturally people are upset.

Fix it with something simple. Send everyone who popped fixed crystals within a 24hr window 20 generic stones and a 1:6 ratio of crystals back.

if people are so concerned about people exploiting this bug then surely the best thing to do is to give the compensation to those that opened the crystals before the bug was confirmed by Kabam.

That means that everyone who opened after this, looking for potential compensation but knowing it was bugged don’t get the same compensation.

Throw out a selector or crystal to the rest of the players but keep the compensation to those that were affected not knowing it was an issue.

Well in that case why just stop at 24hr window, everyone who had opened any basic crystal since the announcement of new champions being added to the crystal should be given a 1:1 crystal. Otherwise it would be unfair to those who didn't hoarded any crystal.

This suggestion still leaves players who didn't hoard crystals at a massive disadvantage, there is a super simple fix, create a crystal that only has the missing champ and just send everyone who opened bugged crystals the chance they would have gotten a missing champ multiplied by the number of crystals they opened.

I spun 5 crystals out and thought it was weird I wasn’t seeing any new champs in the reel. I stopped for 15 minutes or so to see if there’s anything wrong. Then Kabam said they fixed the crystal so I opened my other 22. I guess I should’ve just opened them all at once. I’m an idiot.

Agreed. I feel awful because I was sitting there watching the bugged crystal reports when they launched, and thought I was doing the "right" thing by waiting to open mine. I thought Kabam didn't want us to "take advantage of" a bug by rushing in to do things before it got fixed. Now I'm seeing that the people who opened during the bug are getting a huge bonus by having their crystals doubled. I could've opened over 35 basic 7-stars and various of the special ones like Valiant, etc. too, but I chose not to mess with the bugged system. Now I'm being punished for it.

This is a competitive game. Battlegrounds and War are still two of the most important modes, and are totally competitive ones. Your relative roster strength to others defines how well you will do. Not to mention, our "prestige" now directly affects our monthly quest rewards. The "rules of the game" are not supposed to randomly benefit one group of players over another by suddenly giving some people's rosters a big boost that others don't get.

The Arnim Zola issue showed that Kabam understood this at that time. They made sure that everybody benefitted equally from the "fix," not just people who happened to be opening during the bug. Now the opposite is happening, and one group of players is getting a reward, which, by definition, means the other group of players is getting punished. We are now at a bigger competitive disadvantage relative to the people getting the "compensation," through no fault of our own.

This solution is good, but can no longer be based on the first 24 hours, since that time has passed. There has to be a window of time given after they announce they would be doing this to give us time to open crystals based on this new knowledge.

I do think a "better" solution would've been to make an "Oops" crystal with just the 21 champs that were missing as the contents. Those champs are about 1 in every 8 in the pool. So send people 1 of those crystals for every 8 they opened. If they only did that for the people who opened crystals during the bug, I don't think it would've annoyed many people. That seems like a fair compensation, rather than actually getting to do ALL of your pulls all over again for free, and possibly picking up many other great older champs along the way.

I opened early hoping to dupe sinister. At this point my sig stones are about to expire and I can’t reroll until compensation.

so due to the bug, I blindly had to use a generic AG on sinister without knowing if I would have pulled him fairly. Screw Titan crystal shards, I just wanted a duped sinister :(

This situation is a total tragedy and it is clearly seen that Kabam has chosen not the best solution. I cannot imagine the impact on the future players involvement in the game if they keep their current decision. It feels like a corner case which decides the future of the game.
