Extended compensation

They should be doing what they did with the Zola titan crystal issue by extending the compensation window to everyone that opened their crystals today.

There should be no reason only a select amount of players are getting double rewards due to a bug that everyone else didn’t capitalize on. Extra sigs, more titan shards, more gold, more iso that we all miss out on. That is a terrible way to set a president for exploits in the game moving forward.

I had the opportunity to open but waited for a fix and now I’m getting punished for it? 😡

@KabamPinwheel @Kabam (Osaurus) Rex agreed on the above. The Zola Titan issue didn’t warrant compensation even remotely close, but the window to receive compensation was as wide as can be to allow the entire realm to take part of.
Now that basically the same issue happens again, the window for comp is as small as can be and the comp is as grand as can be.
Plus Titans were supposed to be a more premium item than the Basic.
Feels unbalanced…..

if 7 star crystals are so inconsequential that they can be redistributed to a significant number of summoners without changing the game balance, then they should be sent to all in an extended window.

if extending the window and redistributing 7 stars would mess with the game balance, then double free 7 stars are too consequential for a subset of players.

Pick your poison, but you can’t have it both ways and remain credible.

Solution 1: Give a 1:10 compensation to those affected.

Result: Players who saved for 5 months get screwed, unaffected players don't. Imagine you saved 800k shards for the changeover and none of the champs you saved for were in there and if you only waited you would have been fine.

Solution 2: Give 1:1 comp to those affected.

Result: It only affected a relatively small percentage of the game so the economy impact isn't extreme. It's a bit of an overcorrection for sure but what else should they get? 1:5? That's till unfair for them.

Solution 3: Just like the Zola comp, set an "open by" date and give 1:1 comp to everyone in the community who pops by then.

Result: This benefits unaffected players more which defeats the purpose of comp and impacts the game economy the most. This is the worst solution.

Solution #2 makes affected players whole and impacts the economy the least and that's what they picked. What other solutions do we think is best? Sending 2 selector crystals with the missing champs? If you popped 50 you'd still be mad.

Kabam picked the least devastating solution. If anyone has any better ideas let's hear it.

There’s been better ideas all over the forums. Two off the top of my head:

Players affected get 1:1 comp with the correct crystal. Those who weren’t get 1:1 comp with the bugged crystal. This takes into account all sigs, titan shards, etc disparity missing now,

The other option, everyone gets a selector for one of the new champs. Beyond that, those that were affected get a selector for each 10 they opened. Problem solved

I can't believe, especially after the last mixup, that this is the direction they decided to go in. They dusted their hands of the problem and said 'this is good enough' knowing that it's going to piss a lot of people off.

I agree, though I’m one of the victims of the bug. I assume that they will at least give everyone (including those who didn’t open their crystals) a selector of champions that were not in the base pool.

If someone opened 50 crystals, they gets 1000 sigs for free and than getting back all crystals for new champs. It's worst situation in this competitive game modes. I would request them to either take those sigs and champs back from players which they got from bugged crystals or give compensation to all players globally.

They should just take the L and give everyone in the game 1 copy of all the missing champs. Then go out and hire some people who know how to test stuff before they push it out as this has happened twice before already and still they haven't learned anything

@Kabam Crashed Why people gets punished for game's bug? It's not those who opened crystals in first 15 min are affected, it's those who were not active due to work or sleep or didnopened during that 15 min gets affected by this compensation announced. Double 7* is just game changing compensation ,the amount of sig they gets for free. Just give them selectors of new champs in 1:8 or 1:10 ratio of crystal opened by them, it would be better for those who missed this opportunity to open in first 15 min.

At the least, give everyone the amount of titan shards equal to 50 basic openings and around 100 sig stones. This solution is the worst, and most unffair possible. That means we have to do EVERYTHING the second it appears in the game, just in case there's a bug that will get compensation, to get fairly treated??!

Just roll it back and make a comp package to all. If the timeframe was only under an hour. There’s probably less people that had a chance to open them when it was bugged than those who didn’t.

Then go and put out an advertisement for staffs. Will save you a lot of time and money.

My Zola comp was basically 1:17 (that I hoarded for months) and 17 titans cost more shards to form anyway, so I don't really want to hear 1:5 is unfair or 1:1 was necessary. Nobody wants players to be adversely affected but 1:1? Too much for a luck of the draw thing.

There must be better ways to make this fair to those affected, and this is still another mess up we keep getting told over and over and over and over again is not going to happen.

Players are going to have to be clairvoyant now, to not only judge when to open but what time frame the comp will be and whether the response is proportionate or hypocritical, which this response seems to be based on the Zola "precedent". The "logic" doesn't follow, it's a reversal in fact.

Chuck Finley's idea seems pretty cool tbh. Keeps it at least on a even playing field at least. Interesting for sure. Who knows, maybe in the first place the window shouldn't have been extended for the Zola comp, and only those players affected been given the comp but it was extended and here we are with the opposite. One champ selector/ titan is far less impactful than this 1:1 on basics.

On a final note this really has me thinking of quitting. I know people will be like big whoop, but as is it's unfair, again compared to the Zola one particularly.

There are essentially three groups of players affected by this incident:

Players who hoarded crystals and opened them during the bugged window.
Players who hoarded crystals but opened them only after the basic pool was correctly updated.
Players who didn’t hoard any crystals and therefore have nothing to open, even if the window were extended.

Kabam has chosen to compensate only the first group. This is likely because they are the smallest group, meaning compensating them has the least impact on the game’s overall economy. From what I’m seeing across various social platforms, most players who opened crystals during that time didn’t even realize the basic pool hadn’t been updated. Many stopped opening crystals as soon as they discovered the issue. Yes, there were probably some players who knowingly opened bugged crystals, but they were likely very few, because at that moment there had been no announcement about compensation or what its scale would be. Most sensible players wouldn’t take that kind of risk.

In my opinion, if Kabam’s only feasible option is to distribute 7★ shards—and they cannot remove materials (like extra sigs or Titan shards) or give selectors at a 1:10 ratio—then compensating group 1 is the least unfair and least disruptive solution for the game’s economy.

If Kabam chose to give 1:1 compensation to group 2 (which I believe is much larger), it would actually be more unfair to group 3, who had no crystals saved at all. That approach would also be far more damaging to the game’s overall economy.

In my view, the best solution would be to give one selector to the entire community and then provide a special crystal containing only the 21 champions missing from the basic pool—call it the “We Messed Up Again Crystal”—to the players who opened their crystals during that 45-minute window. This could be done at a 1:8 ratio, which is fair because 21 champions were missing from a pool of 168, meaning on average players lost out on a new champion roughly once every 8 crystals.

as a small account who wasn’t effected (I pulled a franken castle and a sym supreme so I’m very happy) I would take comp in an instant. My friend let loose as soon as the crystal changed and duped his Jean, now he gets another crystal? Yes we’re both paragons but still man

No, it’s least disruptive to Kabam:

Minimal effort

Preserves the value of items they want us spending units on (sigs, titans)

Can’t help group 3, but Group 2 gets wrecked. It doesn’t matter the motive on what was known. More importantly: Group 4 is the key group - Kabam. And we know they will always choose to make sure they take the least amount of harm as possible.
I don’t think I anyone should receive the compensation Kabam chose. Selectors were the least disruptive - we agree there. But Kabam isn’t going to sacrifice effort and time to do that either.

absolutely 100% agree, extend the window at least 24 hours as this is the solution you arrived at before with Zola as you didn’t want to give 1 to 1 that time around even though previously that had been the solution but now it’s back to 1 to 1 again, seems you make the rules up to suit the day.

Don't get me wrong it was a real kick in the nuts for the people who opened early to find the champs missing but the balance is so far out, having the chance to open another 40 or 50 crystals cos you opened yours 10 mins before someone else doesn’t seem right, even a free crystal with just the missing champs in for every 10 or 15 crystals you opened would seem more suitable.

I had hoarded 25 crystals waiting for the update. I spun one to be sure I saw new champs in the reel, which I did (I know the reel really means nothing, but thought at least it had to be representative of the fact that those champs were in the pool

I think there's a much better solution for this.

Instead of giving 1:1 7* crystal, give 1 "we f*ed up crystal" per 7* opened while the pool was incomplete.

What is a "we f*ed up crystal", you say?

It's a modified arena crystal, which gives gold, units and a rare 7*. Just create this crystal, with the chance of winning a 7* proportional to the increment of the base pool. For example, the total pool is now 200, but 20 are new, so put a 10% chance of a 7* result on the "we f*ed up crystal", which gives only one of the new 7*s, when you hit this jackpot.

By doing this, people can still roll the dice for new champions without racking up undeserved shards and sigs and break the game competiveness, and can score some small gold and units for the trouble, like arena farm.

This is a fair solution. Only have it be a 90% chance to get 1g and 10% chance at one of the 21x 7 star champs not in the pool.

They still keep the extra sigs they got from the old crystal, but the disparity isn't anywhere close to being as enormous.

The lesson that has been taught time and time again is that it never benefits you to do the right thing. There are so when times when a crystal has been bugged or an event has been bugged. And players have either been comped extra rewards or simply gained extra rewards.

Due to the nature of how shards, gold etc are accumulated and the transitive state i.e. champs being ranked immediately after pulled. It is always too hard for Kabam to turn back the clock and so just let it ride. Consequently those that do know something is wrong and choose to wait for Kabam to address the issue will fail to benefit.

Here's the kicker. With the Zola comp they explicitly said they don't want to reward the lucky few. So, what's changed here? Now it is ok to reward the lucky few? For every time they say one thing, they will do the exact opposite.

This is perfect — I was trying to explain this point yesterday, and you did it better than I did.

There’s a lot of reasons that 1-to-1 isn’t really what should happen, but the biggest one is that the very premise of doing it that way is based on the concept that “every crystal opened could have been one of the 21 new characters,” which is simply a horrendous application of logic.

Yes, every crystal opened COULD have been one of the 21 new characters.

However, the inverse is also true: Every crystal opened had significantly greater odds of NOT BEING one of the new characters.

Compensation awarded 1-to-1 defies the very foundation of this game, which is RNG — there isn’t a single person out there who opened any amount of crystals yesterday EXPECTING every single one to be one of those 21 kits.

That is the problem with the 1-to-1 compensation — it’s rewarding something that math says wouldn’t have happened EVEN IF THE CRYSTAL WAS PERFECTLY OPERATING.

@Halaster is correct: Math needs to be a component of the compensation — the affected are not harmed because they get to keep everything they opened.

What should not be allowed is the ignoring of the fact that no one was guaranteed one of those 21 kit every time they opened a crystal even if it worked perfectly

My 2 cents on this problem, they are just addressing people who opened as being affected and are treating them like victims, but everyone who had crystals to open on that very moment were affected by the same problem.

The thing is, giving a 1:1 crystal to only those who opened feels wrong, they would be benefiting prom their error and will create discrepancy between who opened or not.

Things would be different if the crystals were empty, but they got champs and shards and will double that.
