if you have 50 mil go for the big ones. I’ve seen all the different tests. At the end of the day it’s RNG but those drop the most amount of units and you have good odds of hitting 1/10 if not more per pop

Forget opening the small ones. You will be opening for hours, lol. As someone mentioned big or medium should net about the same result. With your amount of chips you should end up with roughly 96000 units. Could be a thousand more or a thousand less.

With that many chips, I'd just go for the big ones - if only to speed up the opening and have a shot at 6* punisher.

In any case, I'd expect to see you double your units at least (and that's being conservative)

I don't know which one you would prefer, but my ratio here is: 50,000,000/1000*2=100,000 units The Immediate Average of These Crystals is 95k 110k for 50m If you get more than this rate, I can say that you have a great chance.

I think @DNA3000 did some analysis on this a long time ago.

The trouble with the bigger ones is that the "bad RNG" is much more likely to sting, particularly if you're specifically looking for units. But as said above, with such a large sample size I think you're probably fine to open the Thronebreaker ones.

Personally I tend to open the Uncollected ones

I always open the 2k ones cause I want safer results and now that we have auto open it should make it a bit easier. You can expect 1875 units per million battlechips.

With so many BC, I'd say just go for thronebreaker crystals.

Drop rate %age is the same in all 3 crystals (15%) and based on the numbers (NOT the RNG) there is relevance between all the crystals:

Cost:
Regular = 2,000 BC
UC = 10,000 BC (5x regular)
TB = 50,000 BC (25x regular)

Advertised unit stacks:
Regular = 45 units
UC = 225 units (5x regular)
TB = 1,125 units (25x regular)
There are other unit stacks in the crystals which I believe carry the same multipliers - A lower stack in regular is multiplied by 5x for UC and 25x for TB and higher stacks the same.

To keep the numbers simple, let's just assume you pull the "Advertised stack" from every crystal and spent a round 50mil BC…

Regular = 50,000,000/2,000 = 25,000 crystals x 45 units per crystal = 1,125,000 units
UC = 50,000,000/10,000 = 5,000 crystals x 225 UPC = 1,125,000 units
TB = 50,000,000/50,000 = 1,000 crystals x 1,125 UPC = 1,125,000 units

This is a very simple breakdown, not taking into consideration things like drop rates and not just any RNG but that famous Kabam RNG and it's Kabam and we all know that what is advertised, isn't always what we end up with!

As others have said, I'm sure @DNA3000 will have gone into a far greater breakdown of the arena crystal situation at some point - they are your best option for the most definitive answer on this!

Bottom line is how long do you want to spend opening these crystals??? Whatever you choose, I'd suggest you're definitely going to be claiming one of those top 600 spots in banquet!

Go for the big ones - at that large of an opening units/gold will be pretty close to average regardless, and the TB crystals get you a chance at higher rarity Punishers.

The small crystals have been proven to give units most often, it’s more crystals to open but more units in the end result. Hope that’s what you went with instead of doing big ones to make people happy lol… they just want you to open them because they can’t but it’s definitely not going to provide more units, Brian Grant proved this many years ago..

This is not accurate. Small crystals give units more often only because you’re opening more crystals. if you’re spending 50k chips, you have a single roll on the TB crystal, or 25 rolls on the base crystal. You’ll see units more often, but when you get units from the TB IT’s a much bigger payout. Long term it averages to the same amount, you just get a smoother distribution with the smaller crystals, and bigger crystals you get bigger ‘spikes’ of units

This is not the case. Someone did a fairly large opening and drew that conclusion from their results, but the two problems with that are a) random chance means you never get exactly the statistical average, so if I open a bunch of each type, there will always be a “winner” and “loser” but there’s also a statistical margin for error which wasn’t factored in, and b) we actually know what the actual drop odds and drop amounts are, so the statistical average is calculable for all three crystals, and it is exactly the same: 1840 per million BC.

Since 2021 I’ve opened 58 million BC worth of TB arena crystals. 20 crystals per million BC batch, 1160 crystals total. The total units from all those crystals is 106875, which is an average of 1843 units per batch. The biggest batch I have I opened was 5250, and the smallest was 375 units. It is highly variable because you’re opening so few crystals per batch with very high unit counts (375 and 1125 units for the small drop and the large drop respectively).

If I had 50 million BC and was planning to open them all at once, I would definitely open the TB crystals. First, because I don’t want to go insane opening tens of thousands of arena crystals, but second because the TB crystals are very slightly more valuable. In terms of units, all three crystals have the same average return. But in two ways the TB crystals is more valuable. First, the Punishers have higher rarity, and assuming most people would consider the higher rarity Punishers far more valuable than the lower one that crystal has an edge. Second, the TB crystals has a very slightly higher gold return per million BC than the other two crystals due to the need to scale it differently for energy drops. The UC crystal has a chance to drop five full energy refills. Scaling up the TB crystals would imply it should occasionally drop 25 refills. But that was seen as problematic, because many players would not be able to use 25 refills before they expired from stash. So the TB crystals has a higher chance to drop 10 refills instead, so its net energy return is identical to the basic and UC crystal. But those odds had to come from somewhere, so the odds of dropping gold in the TB crystals is slightly lower than in the other two. To compensate, the gold drops are slightly higher than 5x of the UC crystal, and those numbers are rounded up so the crystal doesn’t have worse gold return. Instead, its very slightly higher.

So with a 50 million pile of BC, I would go TB. It’s enough to average out the unit return fairly well, you get better Punisher drops, and you’ll net a slightly higher amount of gold. And you’ll only have to open a thousand crystals.
