Alliance Leader left the game suddenly, can something be done about this!

Hi guys this is my first time asking about anything here. So my alliance leader left couple of weeks ago and at first we thought he will come back but now as the new alliance war season has started our leader still hasn't returned. though i hope he is okay in his life, can we do something about it or do the alliance is done for in case the leader never returned or something

I believe once a set amount of time passes. One of the officers will be automatically promoted to leader based on seniority. I just cannot remember how long the leader needs to be inactive.
