Account Hacked!
So I am enjoying the banquet like everyone else and tuesday before xmas eve I go to watch a movie at the theaters. The movie is the new avatar. I end up watching the movie and because it is a 3 hour long movie I jump into the game here and there. Movie ends around 1am almost 2am. When I wake up the next morning (xmas eve), I have everyone reaching out to me that I left my ALLY and my name was changed... COINCIDENTALLY to TorrukMakkto, the name of Jake Sully in that movie as a sick joke. Now we are going right into the holidays so Kabam is slow at replying and I can understand because of it being a holiday.
I express the concern and they reply with.. a password reset. I explain the person took over my account and somehow switched my email. Between the next 2 days we are back in forth I prove ownership and I show them the $2000 I have spent since June on the account to prove ownership. I explain that because they ask for the OG info I have it stored in my phone since I cannot remember that from the top of my head to file tickets.
But since we were asked to verify purchases I showed that information to them. They reply with other person has the information too and there is nothing we can do about it. Pretty much deal with the fact you spent $2000 with us in the last few months. No offer to reimburse, we are going to lock up the account and no one will use it.
Even if not for me, it seems Kabam needs to do a better job at finding a work around to matters of this kind. There is no one to speak to on the phone, there is no urgency in their responses, and no care for the fact we pour so much into this game we love.
There needs to be a better work around for matters of this kind, I was even being charged my sigil so lost out on another $10 while I waited for this to get resolved.
They just threw the terms and conditions at me and called it a day. They lost a dedicated player for years. Quite honestly how many of us remember when were how and when we paid for what on a game?
But this is what is used for validation and if anyone else has this info, ohh well.
It is a game and not the birth of a child for us to be vigilant of these nuances, there should be more safeguards in place and better communication measures.
