How To Fix Coliseum
Greetings and a Joyous New Year's Celebration to everyone in the player base and at Kabam.
As we progress through the final day of the second round of Coliseum and enter a new calendar year, I feel like it's a good time for recollection. We can take a look back at the caloric avalanche we've consumed in the week since Christmas, cringe in fear at the balance on our next credit card statements following the Banquet, regret revives we rage spent to clear Wheel of Fate episode 2, celebrate the emotional growth and happiness of our loved ones and ourselves (hooray therapy), and see how we can make 2026 better.
I'll start with Coliseum.
As I'm hoping you've seen, a sizable portion of the community finds it tedious, boring, and, worst of all, grindy but not in the fun ways that involves coffee or 90s R&B jams playing at the club. You see, you can get away with one or more of those things and keep everyone happy if the rewards are good enough, but not all three together.
Here's the solution: Introduce Mystique.
In Mystique's Coliseum, you've got the same setup that you've got now, but instead of the fight being locked to fighting the same defender over and over and over, each time you bring Coliseum back you include a tag or set of tags.
At the beginning of the Mystique transforms into a random champ from that tag and you fight with whatever nodes you give us. When that health bar is cleared, Mystique transforms into a different random Champ from the tag set.This pattern continues until the player dies or the fight times out.
This immediately solves the tedium and boring part. I don't know how to solve the grindy part aside from you stealing my Spotify wrapped Playlist and paying royalties to Ginuwine, Boyz II Men, and Jodeci...actually that might work. To paraphrase R Kelly, whose actions I don't advocate for, I don't see nothing wrong with a little Bumpin' Grind.
In closing, while I'm glad to give this idea for free, I wouldn't be upset if you decided to thank me by secretly rigging it so that I can finally pull Nico Minoru from my next Titan crystal.
