My Feeling about game state mode
Hello Kabam team and fellow Summoners,
I have been playing Marvel Contest of Champions for 9–10 years, and I truly consider it a masterpiece. With this post, I would like to share my perspective on how the game has evolved and how it currently feels to me as a long-term player.
There are many different types of players in the game:
• Collectors
• Skill-focused players
• Grinders
And, of course, combinations of these playstyles.
Personally, I consider myself a mix of all of them.
Unfortunately, from my point of view, the game is gradually shifting more toward collecting rather than actual gameplay, and I would like to explain why I feel this way.
The game currently lacks meaningful grinding and, more importantly, a strong reason to grind. Yes, Battlegrounds allow us to use our collected champions, and I genuinely enjoy that mode. However, with the removal of the Solo Event and the lack of updates to Alliance Rank Rewards, my motivation to play at maximum intensity has significantly decreased. In the past, I was able to reach up to 1.3 million points in solo events, and that motivation is simply no longer there.
Another major issue is the lack of truly challenging and memorable fights, such as:
•The Gladiator in Act 6.2.6 before the first nerf.
•The Grandmaster (both in the story and in necropolis.
•Deathless Thanos in the Gauntlet. •Carina’s Challenges
These encounters created moments where my adrenaline was high and my passion for the game was at its peak. I enjoy difficult fights that require focus, patience, and skill. Examples like defeating Warlock with Mojo in the Gauntlet over multiple attempts, or entering Act 6.2.6 with 1,000 units, getting stopped by the Gladiator, having to quit, farm revives and units, and then return stronger—those experiences defined the core gameplay for me.
I understand that for some players, these encounters can feel frustrating or stressful. However, for me, this is the essence of gameplay, and I believe that such challenges have an important place in the game. The feeling of finally succeeding after repeated failures is truly priceless.
In my opinion, Act 6 was the last truly engaging and enjoyable act in the story. Current story content feels comparable to the Uncollected monthly event difficulty from around 2019, and it can be completed very quickly—often within one or two days.
So what is the main point of this feedback?
From my perspective, the game has been simplified too much.
If some players say Raids are too difficult, they get nerfed.
If some players say there are too many paths in story content, the number of paths is reduced.
I understand that Kabam is trying to accommodate a wide range of players. However, there are also players like me who deeply enjoy high-difficulty content and meaningful challenges. That is why I wanted to share this feedback, and I sincerely hope that this playstyle will continue to be considered and supported in future content.
Thank you for your time and for all the work you do on the game.
Best regards, Janek.
