Defenders are extremely passive when using Pavitr

I finally was able to test him after pulling him from the new Featured 6-star.

All the videos for Pavitr show him just doing parry heavy, with the defender dashing in after every knockback for another parry heavy.

I've tested him out in Practice, Acts, SQ, AQ, and Arenas, and have found that the Defender constantly just hangs back after a parry heavy, like they are trying to stay away from the trap. I'll usually be forced to go in for a combo and then dash back to bait them to come over the trap.

I have tried it with both Auto-run off and with Auto-run on (and dashing back a few times to try and encourage the Defender to move forward), but I am not seeing the consistency that I see in the video guides, in terms of being able to quickly do a bunch of heavies quickly.

Is there something I am missing with the kit, or is this a champion that is more dependent on AI?

I guess it's just RNG at play. With auto run off I find it manageable to keep up his rotation even with passive ROL AI, and even more so with other places

I think the only thing you are missing is the 27 other fights each youtuber had to do to get that AI.

Not just pavitr, but I have about given up on “showcases” and video guides. I almost never see the AI these folks see.

Its alllll AI RNG. I've had Pavitr since he was released and I've had matches just like the content creators, where the AI plays into your perfectly. But ive also had matches like yours where its a struggle just to play around the sigils. It's all RNG

I think the reason the AI might seem more defensive in Pavitr matches is because of the stand-still mechanic he has. I think one of the factors AI considers in decision making is proximity (meaning if your champ is closer the AI is more likely to throw specials). For most champs with auto-run, they tend to stay decently close to the AI. But for champs like Pavitr who stand still, you aren't getting as close to the opponent as consistently. I think this is why Blue Cyclops (another stand still champ) has the built in aggression mechanic.
