Did we ever get anything on whether or not Star-Lord would have an awakening mission?

I just noticed the awakening gem they’re selling explicitly mentions him and I was wondering if that was a bad omen or not.

Nope. They've refused to answer so far. Probably to sell this gem.

I would agreed with @ahmynuts ,

Back when the Deathless run was on, knowing that Kabam will give Free opportunity for awakening those Deathless champs, so @Kabam Crashed , did the very pro-players move let players know om advance, so not to waste any Awaken gem (which at the time was extremely rare).

With the Stella Force with less than a week before we get Star Lord and this question have been asked a lot with no official response, so I think we should accept that , "Free" awaken opportunity will not be available.

Maybe it might be on sales, at the same time awaken gem is a lot more available now, sure either here or there.

I'm pretty sure we've said there will likely be a challenge objective for these Champions similar to what the Deathless had - however, it might not be for a bit.
