Blue Marvel… a most-wanted champion for years by the mcoc community… made to be mediocre on purpose… and given top 4 prestige, which is the laziest way of making a champion relevant in the least relevant way…. so that players feel the need to rank him up… a champion they will mostly never use, because he’s created for content that comes out once every 1-2 years.

Person 1:
“Players didn’t really like what we did with the Sentry buff… we created him for everest content… that’s probably why Sentry still never gets used AT ALL for anything in the game………. 🤔 We may have messed up…. but what’s the worst we can do after this?…..”

Person 2:
“…… We could do the EXACT SAME THING” 🤪

**Creates Another: Sentry Level, Caped, Flying, Science Class, Canonically a Powerhouse, Fan Favourite, Everest Content Focused, Irrelevant champion.**

This type of post shows how emotionally compromised MCOC players have become when exposed to new champions. When the in-game version doesn’t mirror their headcanon or desired fantasy, disappointment turns into criticism not grounded in mechanics or balance, but in emotion.

Yeah, I just watched DLL's video on him, and I'm actually glad he's not an OP BG champ. We don't need more broken DLL champs.

As far as his ramp-up mechanics, that's cool, but where is the content from Kabam that gives us a reason to use him?

Like, I love my Sentry, and did Necro with him, but there has been no new content released for more than a year for such champs. Heck, even when Kabam releases somewhat difficult content, they usually put swap nodes or filters.

So yeah, Blue Marvel won't be a good BG champ, and there is no end-game content where we will benefit from using him.

This. People need to watch DLL’s champion spotlight with context series before jumping to conclusions based on opinions alone. The Deep dive explores the champion on a surface level, while DLL’s spotlight explores why Kabam designed him this way and how his strength fits into the broader meta. You’ll see he’s not made for every fight, but when you bring him into the right matchup, he thrives.

Let’s stop treating “not broken = bad.” Blue Marvel is a thinking player’s champ, and the kind of design that rewards mastery, not mashing. People can have their opinions on champs, of course but opinions without context don’t help anyone outside.

So what I have seen on YT and the forum is two extreme side of the debate.

For me to see the problem lie some where in the middle.

So I'm not a high players in all area, I'm only around Gamma for BG, I have done all content apart of LoL and Abyss (but will hope to one day).

I put a lot of thought in managing my resources, I ranked up Ironheart instead of Jack because she cover to area (imo), but willing to accept she is slower than Jack in BG.

So for players similar myself , where ranking resources are limited, ranking up champ are very selective, and right now there are so many things to consider, Prestige, BG attack, BG defend, PvE contents, ect.

Now regarding, BG, it is Kabam that push the game mode into players with the exclusive, highly demanded currency and store with highly demanded resource and even rare champion (Magik coming soon). So players are force to invest into BG whether they like it or not.

As for Everest content, that last one that let players ramp champions up through quest was Necropolis (that is 2 year ago?).

I seen a few players mentioned Coliseum, but that game mode doesn't enable ramp up through multiple fights like quest does, it doesn't even require ramp champs like EoP and EoP 2, where the fights are long. With Coliseum the different between a champ that can do 20 bar of health and one that can do 10 are 25 energy (and while that is high, it is still much cheaper than Rank 4 resources). Why should any one commit SF Starlord when Cheelit or Okoya can do just as well (or with only 25 energy more). When you can use Cheelit and Okoya in so many other game mode.

As of right now where can players NEED a champs lile SF Starlord or Sentry (I not mentioning Blue Marvel, because I don't know what he can truly do yet)

So if Kabam is push players to participate in BG and not creating Everest that enable champions to ramp up through quests then why limited champion design to this?

We have seen Kabam make small adjustments on champions where they can be ramp up champions for Questing, but already have part of their ramp up in BG environment e.g Silver Samurai. This is apply to champions like

Apo - In BG have 3 charges

Aegon and SF Starlord - Start with some combo already.

It is simple and not game breaking in anyway.

TLDR:- Kabam can create ramp up champs for questing if they like, but why not add extra ability to enable those champs to funtions in BG too.

I don't know how Blue Marvel will do in the Battlerealm, but IF he does turn out to be not viable AT ALL in BG, then it is a very poor design decision and a low move from Kabam, especially making him the 4th highest prestige. Because there is no content the require him, but players are pushed to chase, max rank and sig him.

We will find out in a week or so.

Typically when a player says a champion is boring, they typically mean they are bad to play. Look at Falcon for example, to most people he’s very boring to play, hit the opponent, lock on, deal damage. But even if he’s boring he’s effective, and that’s acceptable, but most competitive players won’t accept acceptable as an answer, they only want good or perfect champions.

(By the way, this is not an AI answer, this is logic)

Further to Tairique's response above, you need to remember: DLL is a human being who is (with all due respect) every bit as biased as every other YouTuber.

His spotlights with context are semi-interesting to watch (although, my goodness, they go on a bit…); but DLL does no wrong in his own head, despite giving us Serpent, Enchantress, and Kate Bishop amongst others.

Do bear that in mind when you're watching his videos.

@EdisonLaw The meta rats are the best and most competitive players in the game. & unfortunately, when endgame players decide to rank champs you enjoy over the repetitive, boring meta champs…. you put yourself at a disadvantage. Battlegrounds is the only consistent and constant content in MCOC. Most of the time, BG’s is the only relevant content to top tier players throughout the year. & as an endgame, competitive players myself… even though I do fun rank ups more than most endgame players, I also do a lot of meta rank ups… because if I don’t, then i’ll be at a disadvantage in the only consistently relevant game mode throughout the year. Mediocre is NOT enough for us who are at the top of the game. Blue Marvel is so powerful and has been wanted after for years. He’s disappointing. We don’t need another champion made for content that only comes around once ever year or two.

Coliseum? Alliance Rampant Evolution? AW? There are plenty of places for BM to shine. Plus we seem to be getting more ramp champs like buffed Heimdall, Star Lord (OG and Stellar forged), J Jonah Jameson and Dr Strange, etc. Not every single champ is designed to be a BGs nuke

And ironically, meta chasers often fear being left behind, so they never give themselves the chance to get ahead by innovating. That’s not mastery, it’s dependency. When everyone ranks the same top 10 champs and calls everything else “mediocre,” the meta becomes a closed loop that punishes exploration.
Historically, champions like Human Torch, Spot, Maker, Mr Knight, Cassandra Nova, these underrated attackers and defendersh have been overlooked by the MCOC community, but look at them now.

You're not completely wrong about "emotional responses" to disappointing but there is context that is relevant: Kabam aren't (largely) making up their own champs. They're producing playable versions of champions that people might have been reading about for 30-40 years.

The game exists because people have an emotional connection with these champions. So emotional responses to them being released are inevitable; whether it's a good, bad or disappointed response.
