ASCENSION LAUNCH POOL - MYSTIC AND COSMIC!
Greetings Summoners!
Continuing to reveal the 7-Star Ascension base pool, we’re back today with details on the Mystic and Cosmic Champions!
MYSTIC
Mojo
Sasquatch
The Destroyer
Kindred
Man-Thing -
BUFFEDLet’s talk first about Man-Thing’s tuneup, which is aimed at giving his offensive loop clarity while reinforcing some of his defensive threats:
- Moved Signature Ability Fury to Agitation, and increased overall Fury potency
- Added Nullifying a Buff as another +5 Agitation trigger
- Increased on-contact Nullify chance
- Changed on-contact Nulllify to only as a Defender
- Adjusted Signature Ability Regeneration to always activate regardless of Health threshold
- Changed Signature Ability Regeneration from a Buff to Passive
- Adjusted Signature Ability Regeneration scaling from Health to Missing Health and increased amount
- New Synergy with Cosmic Ghost Rider: When Man-Thing charges a Heavy Attack, he gains a short Aptitude Buff
With these changes, offensively, more abilities will happen when you want them to. Nullify is on-demand instead of random, Fury is consistent with Agitation and ramps quicker, and Regeneration is always triggered by Special Attacks. The result is a reliable loop with the freedom to use what Special Attacks suit the fight! Defensively, only his threats of Regeneration and Nullify have become a bit more prevalent – threats the Science Class is well-equipped to tackle.

For the Mystic pool at large, we want to ensure there are plenty of opportunities for Science attackers to shine. Defensive threats like Regeneration, Degeneration, and Power Gain will present familiar challenges in a new context. While many of these Champions are currently thought of as defensive-leaning, we expect the base stat advantage available from Ascension and the Ascendable Cosmic pool to provide ample chances for offensive success. In setting up these Mystic Champions as attackers, we aim to cover a variety of Buff interactions while letting the pool feature a less common effect: Atrophy. Which Mystic utility do you find most valuable? Check out the Cosmic pool below to help decide!

As you might expect from a Cosmic pool, Buffs, damage, and focused utility are the name of the game! For damage in particular, top-of-Class Cosmic attackers are already posting short fights in Battlegrounds, so for the Ascension pool, we prioritized Champions who can dish out the damage over longer fights.
In selecting Champions who emphasize buffs, we wanted a few different ways for them to manifest - long duration, ability accuracy protection, and Glancing to prevent on-contact Nullify, as some examples. This will allow these Cosmic attackers to tackle different fights while also creating healthy incentives for different Mystic Champions.

That’s another two Classes down for the 7-Star Ascension Base Pool! Who will join them to round out the Tech and Mutant Classes? Which Champions are getting the remaining 3 tune-ups? Find out next week!
