No
It's 7 star Champions ascended
Thanks Kabam π₯³
Anyone who thought 8 stars were actually going to release are crazy.
itβs just semantics. Kabam will tell you that ascension is better because you get to keep using the seven stars youβve invested in. But unfortunately, the ascension pool is terminally dull for the most part. So keep your r4 Hulkling, Nico, Photon etc and NOW you can get excited about ranking your Bishop, Patriot, Aarkus, whatever.
I would prefer the RNG of 8 stars over the slow motion meta evolution implied by ascension.
Would you feel more comfortable if we call them 7.5*?...
Remember when some people called 6r5 ascended 6r6 or flat out rank 6 lol
I'm surprised you haven't realized that this would be the exact same way even if they released 8 stars. The first 8 stars to release would not be the meta ones. It's literally the same as when 7 stars released. Hardly anyone in the original 7 star pool was an active 6* top tier at the time.
Ascension does provide a tangible advantage in that acquiring the champs and their sig is not a problem anymore.
6* ascension was not treated like a new rarity release like whats happening now with 7*
If we had gotten 8* instead of 7* ascension we would:
-get small number or champs released as a patch over time
-first patch always sucks kinda
-monetisation of good champs later on
This is exactly whats happening with 7* ascension
Its the same thing as getting an 8* release but they call it a different approach
The only difference is we already have the champs but that doesnt really matter if you cant actually ascend them cuz getting their ascension material is basically the equivalent of pulling them out a crystalπ€·
Yes.... that's what it is? That's hie it was marketed this entire time really
i thought they did the ascension thing so it doesnβt feel repetitive and boring π€·
Yeah basically, they even have a new mechanic like a new star rating would have. I like shifting up the power budget and having some new champs, looking forward to who will be the new meta champs and I hope they keep tuning up champs as they add them to the ascension pool.
If it makes you feel any better, it will feel repetitive and boring once 8* come out
Even they can see releasing 8*βs is a bad idea.
Yeah, itβs an advantage that youβre completely at the mercy of Kabamβs coercive system of selling you the idea that you should ascend Patriot and be excited about it.
There isnt a disguise lmao, thats what they said this is. The difference ofcourse being that we dont have to completely restart roster building again and sig investment doesnt become meaningless
Enjoy your r5 ascended Patriot. What a tremendous opportunity youβve been given.
You keep bringing up Patriot. He's not even the most mid champ there. #noticing
thatβs a great point. I have so many options to illustrate my point. Gorr, Sersi, Bishop, Destroyerβ¦ I mean, Iβm thrilled to redirect resources away from good champs in order to invest in these winners.
I guess there is the advantage that many of us already have most of the ascendable champs vs when 7* came and it was starting from scratch. I get this lets them reset the meta and I appreciate that is necessary from time to time with a game this old with this many champions. BUT Iβm not excited to play with many of these older champions. I donβt think anyone expected to see Jean , Spider-Woman, Serpent or Okoye in the initial batch however a lot of this initial pool is underwhelming. There is still a lot to announce so we will see.
They will if the game continues long-term. Ascension will only push the game so long.
After ascension is done they are going to introduce another power mechanic. A gear system and something like the red stars mechanic in future fight.
Gears will never be a thing. It was once, on the Chinese only server. And it was vehemently despised. The answer to Gears was relics. And ascension is basically the same thing as red stars already anyways.
Kinda, but looks like you won't need sig stones, so that's something
My beef with all this is we won't really have that same 'chase' feeling we'd have if we were to pull an 8 star for the first time and then have to chase the dupe and use that generic gem on them. I doubt I'm alone in saying I already have a beefy 7 star roster. Adding strength to them will Def be nice though.
What does this even mean? 8 stars ain't needed this year for example, maybe a year from now. But this ascension system with ELEVEN ranks is gonna be, what, the next 3 or so years?
but how is that different from just having the 7* go up to rank 15 for example..
Am not against the idea but i feel like they made it sound way more exciting (or atleast thats how i interpreted it) than it actually is..
to be honest i have no idea how the ascension will be.. will we be getting different ascension material for each champ? Cuz thats the same as pulling a new 8* for example π€..
