End of an Era – Back Issues

So, Back Issues will be removed on April 8. Honestly, it makes sense. The game has evolved a lot since Variants were first introduced.

Would be cool if Kabam acknowledged players who 100% explored all Back Issues before removal? Maybe a title or a profile pic?

How do you all feel about them being removed?

This is incredibly disheartening and yes there should be something for those that actually 100% everything. Especially before the announcement and how much of a waste of energy Back Issues #1 was to 100 on both classic and variant.

(1) We get 2 free revives every day. Who is revive farming at this point, lol….

(2) I have been doing a lot of the back issues for the units, especially when my energy refills are close to expiring. But they're also really boring to do, so I'm not too sad to have them taken away. Save me from myself….

How many revives do most players have in their stash now? Like 40 level 2s, 40 level 1s, and now they're giving Level 3s from twitch drops.

At some point, if you have to spam 100+ revives to do end-game content, maybe you're just not an end-game player.

The limit is 20 of each, not 40. Necropolis needed around 60-100 per path if you remember. And, "end-game" player doesn't mean you do the paths itemless or with 4-5 revives, especially with the current AI and bugs. You already know that I hope.

Back issues are being removed after the majority of the new Carina's are out; there is no connection whatsoever.

back in the day used to be my favorite content, i explored all back issues on variant difficulty, it was very fun , challenging and interesting, and rewarding too, i wish they just buffed the rewards or released new variants, it was good content people loved and enjoyed

It's just bad imo. I don't think back issues bother anybody (except revive farming obviously, but they could've just make no revives there). There's already no new interesting content coming out for a long time, they focus on things like bgs and random monthly browser games for some reason. And removing existing content seems to be an anti player move. If I were a new to the game, I'd rather do back issues for some challenging fun content instead of boring grind

waiting for everyone who has not done them all to come back after saying “give us all the rest of the Units that we are no longer able to get because you took those quests away from us now”.

Or even new players or alt accounts, wondering why they can't just be given all those Units for free now, “since everyone else before were able to get them, why not me ?”

The inventory limit is 20 (without Sigil), but then you can accumulate more in the stash. It was and is relatively easy to bank 34 of each to have at least 68 on hand just of L1s and L2s. That's not counting team revives or higher tier single revives. At the moment I have 13 L1, 18 L2, and 2 L3 single revives in overflow. If I didn't have Sigil (I do) I would have 92 solo revives on hand right now (with Sigil I have 107). I am also full on L2 Team revives, and I have 21 L4 revives.

If ever you need more than 68 revives in a single shot, I don't think it is asking too much to just buy them with units. If that is happening with regularity, you're punching outside your weight class with content.

It’s unfortunate, but as someone who has farmed ALOT of revives over the years, it’s not a big deal. I farmed enough revives explore necro, epoch, and all the other end game content. They already nerfed it once and it got less efficient but still doable. But it’s very time consuming and boring. Lately they have been giving a lot more revives out and if you do the daily revive quest it’s easy to fill your inventory. You can always spend the time you would have farmed revives and grind arena to get units and buy revives. Not as time efficient since you can’t auto fight but there’s ways to do these challenges free to play.

We have time for one last time farming season before the new challenges, the only one that sounds like a revive sink are the new epoch gauntlet so I’ll farm when that gets closer.

I will miss these quests mainly because I have been progressively exploring each Variant. Did not do this earlier due to my roster which lacked depth or missing certain champions like Sentinel, to take advantage of these boost nodes

If they do bring back variants in the future, they could do saga based variants with saga based bosses and nodes, or another event

Both have history, no doubt. The difference is, Back Issues were something you could fully explore and “finish.” They sat there as a permanent milestone.

Incursions has always been more of a side mode rather than a completion-based one. Losing a milestone-based piece of content feels bigger than losing a rotating activity.

There is NO way Kabam is not doing this to PREVENT hoarding of revives, where the best place is back issues.

Currently I have 120+ revives and 60+ large energy refills to farm more revives from back issues. Cannot remember when I had less than 100 revives.

I don’t agree. We had Carina’s before and other end game content. We had this opportunity for many years, so this is a profoundly change for the worse.

They're removing them because having to go back in and change things everytime a champion gets buffed or a nice interaction gets changed to make sure there aren't any impossible node combinations took up more time than it was worth and they want to use that time for content that people are actually playing

Disagree. Variants are added with specific nodes which are fun and reward if you have the right champ like Sentinel or Deadpool. Variants have not nor required to be relooked and updated after champions buff. These are permanent content and meant to be another fun way to play. As someone who has played the game for several years I only started to explore one variant each month because I have a deeper roster, and more time and energy to do so (thanks to the newly revamped EQ). I understand removal of this content will go ahead but will still lament aas I will have one less fun mode to play in future
