Have Titans Lost All Value?

This is directed at competitive PvP players, for whom everything in the game is relative.

If the only way to ascend new champs now is via the featured crystal, what is the point of non-whales caring about titans?

Why would people invest in new champs they can't ascend but other players can ascend?

Instead, doesn't it make sense to invest in champs we can ascend, and ban or ignore the new champs that only whales can ascend?

And so, won't we stop caring about titans now?

Honestly, great question. I’ve been saving titans for Dr strange. I’m probably still going to rank him, but I’m way less excited for opening titans from here on out. The champs will hit a ceiling and I won’t be able to ascend them until freaking 2027. This feels awful

it doesn't make sense at all, zero sense… Pavitr and lizard are ascendable (titan champions, in the titan crystal)

and all new 2026 champions don't drop ascension material from titan, its just stupid and ridiculous.

We were lead to believe all new champions starting with Lizard will be ascendable and drop ascension materials. so, it was a lie, or a carefully directed miss-understanding.

the only reason this is, its so they can sell the featured valiant crystals, (1 in 120 chance) I hate this.

In all seriousness though. Yes, mostly. They still have value in that you can get the champion but now the champion is only one fraction of the puzzle instead of half of it.

Before you just needed the champ and rank up mats.

Now you need the champs, rank up mats, their token, the class tokens, and dust. One of which is blocked for 99% players.

So if we convert my arbitrary metrics into arbitrary numbers. If the titan was 50% valuable before it is now 20% value

It is absolutely a business mis-direct. Kabam technically was not lying, new champs are absolutely able to be ascended. What they did not say is you will need to spend +1000 dollars for just ONE ascendable new champ. So per month, it will be more than 2,000 dollars per month if you want to ascend both new champions released each month. So its Kabam conveniently leaving out details and telling half truths. Which is pretty scummy

And even for the whales, is this such a great thing?

Maybe exclusive ascension is great for them.

But will they care about opening titans, if they can only pull a champ they already got through the featured, or a champ they didn't from the featured which means they can't ascend.

Yes, maybe the whales will be happy to dupe or get extra sigs on their ascendable champ they got through the featured, but that still dilutes the experience of opening titans.

They have lost a lot of value, and there are probably ways to increase it more. Maybe that is adding ascension materials to the titan in some way, or changing the release schedule once again, or something else. If they remain unchanged for the next few cycles it definitely won’t get better though.

I dont think whales will like this either. They're the only ones who will have access to the highest level of power for the new champs for a long time so they'll just be competing against each other.

That last part is the worst thing for me.

Because it's like, even as a spender myself, it's already kind of insane to drop $100 on a game here and there, but at least I could tell myself, well I do it during big sales and get a lot in return as far as units, guaranteed value items, and milestone rewards.

But now I feel like Kabam is trying to coerce me into buying these horrible RNG super expensive slot machine featured crystals.

Spending $100 on something in this game already feels dumb, but then spending $100 and getting basically nothing in return is such a horrible feeling, and will make people either quit or get rage-induced into buying more and more featured crystals because of sunk cost fallacy.

IMHO, this is a really predatory and underhanded design aspect of this new ascension system.
