Essentia, while not perfect, looks good to me

After weighing the pros and cons, I would say I like this update, but why are there only negative reviews all over?
My thoughts:
Cons:
Why not just let us trade all our old currency without a limit? There are already item purchase limits in place so our spending is limited anyway
Raid ticket prices for Essentia are bad - but they enabled the old conversion from loyalty, glory and artifacts
Missing AQ potions and incursion 7* crystals - separate issues that they need to fix, and not "ESSENTIA IS TRASH"

Pros:
The limit and value of end-game items are increased.
For glory, I only compare with the first purchase, which means the value using glory gets lower the more you buy.
Glory to Essentia is 1:1, and 100:35 for trophy tokens (TT) to Essentia

T7B:
Essentia: 3350 for 1.4k Essentia
Glory: 1275 for 1675 Glory/Essentia
BG: 3500 for 15.5k TT or 5425 Essentia
That is a massive increase in value for T7B, and higher purchase limits

T4A:
Essentia: 5700 for 480 Essentia
Glory: 4200 for 500 Glory/Essentia
BG: 5700 for 2.8k TT or 980 Essentia
Again, a massive increase in value with higher purchase limits

T6CC (non-selector):
Essentia: Half for 210 Essentia
Glory: 45% for 50+70+90=210 Glory/Essentia
BG: Half for 1.2k TT or 420 Essentia

T6CC (selector):
Essentia: Half for 320 Essentia
Glory: 45% for 60+80+100=240 Glory/Essentia (So worse at first, but evens out with increasing costs)
BG: Half for 2k TT or 700 Essentia

T6B/T3A:
Essentia: 1 for 390 Essentia
Glory: 12 for 170+220=390 Glory/Essentia
BG: 1 for 1.4k TT or 490 Essentia

Across the board, we are getting more resources per currency spent, even when comparing to only the first purchase using Glory. The only exception is T6CC selectors, but if you buy more than 3 from the Glory store then Essentia is also better.
With the free 30k Essentia (30k Glory/85k TT worth) combined with higher value/purchase limits, we are definitely getting more resources right now even with the trade-in limits, and the issue of limited trade-ins will go away in a few weeks. Overall, the prices in this looks like a big W to me, and I am happy with this update.

With that being said, since the value with Essentia is better, there is no harm in leaving the old glory/TT store open.

But why is everyone saying that they got royally screwed over by Kabam if we are getting more resources?

I would say most people agree that the store itself is not the issue (I have some personal gripes with the pricing, like t5cc being egregiously expensive for what it is). But overall, I don’t mind the store itself.

What most people are up in arms about (rightfully so imo) is limiting our trade-ins, why? You are limiting and punishing me for playing your game. For being an engagement based currency, this is not a good way to keep people logging in, defeating the purpose of it being an “engagement based” system. The whole “drip feed” essentia statement from Kabam is ludicrous

People are also upset because of the sudden departure of the BG and glory store. Kabam loves telling us half truths and leaving pretty key details out of their announcements. Case in point for this scenario, and for another big game changing announcement, ascension.

You will be able to ascend all new champs after lizard…(several months later…) IF YOU SPEND OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS

You will be able to hold 100k essentia at a time, and you will be able to trade in old currency…but we are going to limit your trade in at a pace that is slower than molasses…in the arctic…in December.

TLDR: I think most people agree, the store itself is not the problem, it’s how Kabam has executed the store and how they are taking away player choice

The roll out and the amount of things overlooked makes Essentia terrible. The idea was good, the execution was pitiful

the store is fine, its the fact that 3 of our resources that its meant to consolidate are basically frozen now with no warning, they didnt say they'd cap the conversion they only said essentia is capped which is expected, so people now have an abundance of glory artifacts and bg tokens that will take months to a year to get rid of. Its even more mind blowing that they thought this was months in the making and it looks like its been done overnight

I want to see more access to T1 Alpha, T2 Alpha, T4 Basic and T4CC. It looks like only our access to T4CC increased as a result of this.

T1 and T2 Alpha both decreased. I believe T4 Basic stayed the same.

Yes taking health potions and revives away when they were supposed to refresh and other store items, kind of a rude gesture from the makers, especially while they put out a new series of raids. Making potions only units is the new way to purchase them?
Changing aspects of the game abruptly without much notice kind of like having a baseball team go in for half time and after being told well we changed things, you no longer will be using bats instead we changed them all to wooden logs. We also rearranged the order of which bases you will run to and got rid of 3 outs and made it to 1 out.
Why change so much unless you are trying to get people to walk off the field and quit?
I am still here but what is the point of changing something already working?

I agree that limiting the trade-in makes no sense, but it really does not matter. Even if you have 25k glory and 150k TT saved up, and you spent it all on the old stores, whatever you could buy would probably be worth around 30-40k essentia. If they didn't give 30k essentia, the impact of the trade-in limit would be huge, but given the 30k essentia and we can still eventually trade-in all the old currencies, it really doesn't matter.

I also want to see the limit being removed, but having the limit there is not that big of a deal since they did give us 30k essentia to start.

I am not here to support Kabam's decision. I am here to give constructive feedback, the reasoning behind why something works, and why something does not. Saying "Kabam is incompetent" or "Essentia is trash" isn't giving any constructive feedback that they can work on.

I appreciate @Junhanrocks taking the time to work out the math. It's good to know that we're coming out ahead with a lot of the items.

That said, I sympathize with some of the more critical posts, too. It's disappointing to lose some purchasable potions/revives with the transition. I also really liked some of the 7* crystals with specific sets of champs. I know we can still get those in the Radiance store, but it was nice having them available with the alternate currencies since I imagine most players are using Radiance for higher rarity items.

I'm not getting too upset over the Essentia switch—just offering some constructive feedback.

So they come out with new currency, close the stores with the old currency, so now we can only trade in the old currency and then an hour after that send us the old currency as our regular rewards from AQ that we can not spend anywhere because they closed the stores already. Why? That doesn’t make any sense

I can't stop worrying that in a years time there will be a new big item or a chase item in the essentia store, which will cost more than a 100k, and the limit will be increased from 100k to 500k or something, but by that time all of the convertible currency will be gone.
