Buffs and special 3

For the life of me kabam, I don't understand why all buffs stop against an opponent when the opponent activates an S3. When I have an opponent bleeding, and they get to 1-2 % health, they activate their S3 and instead of dying, they lay an a$$ whooping on me instead. Whats the point of being able to bleed, poison, etc anyone if all they have to do is activate a S3 to make them all stop? It just doesn't make sense.
