Liam still have 400k units and is quitting soon
Without Beroman providing matchups for celestial players, matchmaking is cooked
Last season I took out all my male champions just to add some fun into GC battlegrounds
I won 1 match and got 43,750 radiance for that
I had no motivation to push further with my normal deck
Hmm.
It's honestly wild how even though engagement keeps plummeting every year not only on forums but on YT communities, and more and more veteran players continue to leave the game, Kabam still remains delusional creating useless garbage game modes nobody likes and just making terrible decisions overall even after all the negative feedback.
I don't know how many of you were here when we got WoW and all the other seasonal fights before Epoch came out but the engagement was crazy on these forums back then. There was so much hype and so many threads with people discussing things and giving advice and stuff. If we go back even further to when Necropolis first released it was so cool seeing all the threads with people mentioning how many deaths they contributed towards the realm event and the writes ups and the team they used etc the forums had never felt so alive before, now it feels more like a wasteland with nothing interesting going on. The streams from all the content creators, I remember how everyone was loading up the game at exactly 9am-10am PT to jump in immediately whether it was a new BGs season or a new piece of Endgame content, however now? Nobody really gives a **** about streaming endgame content or BGs, and the few that do, no longer do it as often as they used to. I look back at those times and it really makes me sad seeing how the game has deteriorated since Miike and Jax left, and I'm not saying they were in charge of game decisions or anything like that but what I am trying to say is that the only possible explanation here is that most of the developers from that era are now gone, it's a ship without a captain.
It is also truly baffling to me that even after all the bs f2p promises they made last year, they have essentially shifted back to their old ways with stupid **** like this:
Oh yeah let's make new champs ascendable but only through money cause screw the Titan pool, and more importantly screw f2p players. We just want the people who spend apocalyptic amounts of money to get the most out of our game.
And to top it all off their CEO had the audacity to deliver a speech about how he wants us to know that he is listening to our feedback lol where is this guy listening to the feedback his own arse? Every single decision they've made the past couple of months has been dumb and went completely against the feedback they have received not only on forums but on YT communities. Kabam with all due respect, it is time for yall to get your heads out your asses and take the damn game back to where it was, we are sick of repeating ourselves over and over again. You are not listening
The most alarming part of the video was when Liam said they gave feedback on BGs and Kabam straight up ignored it and told them thank you 🤦... This company....
(got double posted.. above)
Even more alarming is that we still haven't seen omega pools in the gc in the main game when its the best battlegrounds development they've made in years
I don't think it's a terrible thing that players like Liam and Beroman leave the game.
It will be nice to see more casual players compete for the top Celestial spots.
I don't think treating this game as life or death competition was ever a healthy lifestyle for anyone.
I suggest you watch the video if that's your take
I did, my friend.
I don't think many of Liam's complaints or suggestions are things most average players care about.
More tournaments? Who will be winning those? The most hardcore players.
Leaving the game because some regular Celestial players have quit? Again, only a few players care about that.
I look at the issues being highlighted by the normal community and those are not Liam's complaints.
People say BGs is too competitive; Liam says it is not competitive enough.
People say they can't get ascended versions of new champions. Liam says he's too bored to buy an ascended Madelyn even though he has a million units.
He lost me when he said war is enjoyable.
ive been coming around on war lately so that wasnt as egregious to me.
Most of the changes lately ignore long time players. Everything nowadays is made to engage newer players that might do the spending.
I remember a few days ago before the stream someone made a mention of us needing more everest content and Crashed replied with something along the lines of "coming in the livestream". Yes ther announced the Vol 4 of carina challenges, complete repeats with a roster restriction twist... Yay.
Even the Magik rework and ingame ways to get tokens are literally in act 6, and making Magik a completely new champ that most old players can't even recognize.
They are not trying to increase the customer base, they are trying to replace it.
It would be cool if we got carinas multiple times per year. It cant be that hard to come up with ideas to recycle content
The game is over a decade old. People quit all the time. It's not some ominous sign.
They skipped recycling Necropolis this time so look for that soon. Or maybe Wheel of Fate since it was so beloved by players.
It's just crazy to me that we dont see these challenges more often. The content is already designed so they just need to figure out objectives.
People would literally do these for free since the game is dead a good chunk of the time and our stashes are ever growing so the rewards dont even need to be something insane that moves the vertical level of power up.
Theres so many things they could do with this that they just dont.
We could have objectives that release every week or so for x months where we collect tokens that we could exchange for a new or existing champion. Maybe we get Carina, maybe we get Ares, maybe we can actually earn the right to play as a version of the story bosses like literally everyone wants to because theyre really cool looking.
We could also do earnable first appearance stuff.
The world is really their oyster here but theyre too busy developing dimensional arcade v3 and nerfing echo damage
Both of those players leaving is not going to let casual players compete for Celestial spots. The top ranks are gatekept by spending thousands on the game. Unless kabam adds the omega pool, the top ranks will always have the same players.
Yeah, I don't know whose feedback they're listening to really, maybe fish monkey? Cause otherwise seems to me every single time someone gives them actual feedback whether that be on forums or their own content creators, they don't really listen.
You are delusional if you think some of them quitting will allow casual players to get to Celestial lol no, that spot will now belong to anyone who spends a lot of money especially with the **** meta they have been designing lately.
I think they are "budgeting rewards"... 🤦 this was the first game I heard that the devs budget rewards like that sounds so Stingy 😂.
I know that a lot of mobile game devs like to have economic control but not releasing content cause of reward budget is wild, I say this cause I see no reason why they are not releasing more challenges
It would be cool to go back into Labyrinth without being forced to use 4 stars like Volume 1
I don't really know much about Liam apart from him winning last year Brawl, never watched any of his video and don't know if he stream or not, seen like a decent guy from the Brawl.
However this video from Liam really show so much insight, with so much I didn't realise, and really appreciated his openness.
First - We all hear of various rivalry between Celestial players, but from what Liam say, it sound like they all have a relatively health competitive attitude. Which is nice to see, but extremely sad to see so many have / are leaving the game.
Second) - Liam reflection of essentially being a pseudo whaling is also really revealing on how much MCoC is just about spending, players are either spending really cash and spend their real life time and grind for units so they can spend on sales.
The spending cohesion seem even strong this year with Ascension.
Third) Liam and Cantona feedback, this raised 2 extremely concerning points:-
Fourth) I did not realise so many top end game players have already quit
While players quit and start all the time, it is worth asking, what is left.
Right now Liam quit because BG mode is broken, Bero quit because of Kabam decision to make exclusive Promo code and Twitch drop for CCP, Andrew quit because of Ascension acquisition, and that at the top end.
While at the bottom, how many new players are joining Kabam, the amount of times we have new players come to the forum asking to make sense of the game (and most of the time get shot down by forum warriors). How many of those players going to fight their way to C1.
It not hard to see the severe drop in BG participation, and that is before Ascension really take place, how many more season players willing to be the guinea pigs for Kabam to test out their crazy BG ideas (this off season sure if fun 🤯).
The only reason why we haven't hear bigger feedback on the state of the game is because people are just tired, tired of being angry, too tired to care.
Players come and go, but so are games. The only different is, players stop playing one game, they can easily find another game (or activities) to occupy their time. But how easy will the Kabam's employees find another jobs? How easy will Kabam or Netmarble to create another game with this kind of profit?
Like I said in another post I feel like it's the higher ups forcing these decision and it has become so bad that crash can't come to the forums to even give reasons behind these changes as he used to do...
This is what I feel is happening but I can't be too sure yet cause the devs also have some faults
I want to be very clear here on the feedback portion of this - All feedback from our players is always welcome. That said, not every suggestion can lead to immediate changes, especially once features or updates have gone through internal planning, QA testing, and final approval. Some decisions simply can't be reversed or reworked on short notice. I also want to set realistic expectations that while input often sparks meaningful internal discussions, not every conversation or outcome will be shared publicly. Discussion with our players has directly shaped changes to Battlegrounds and many other parts of the game, thanks in large part to input from the CCP and the wider community. No feedback ever falls on deaf ears, whether it comes through the CCP or any other channel.
Is the new battlegrounds meta working as intended?
I'm steam rolling every defender in 30 seconds, saga or non saga defenders all the same
Netmarble purchased Kabam specifically for MCOC for a reported $800 million in 2017. They've more than recouped multiples of their initial investment since then and anything past 8 years is house money. Netmarble is also coming off their biggest quarter full stop from a portfolio of new games not named MCOC. The day that Marvel's cut exceeds the trouble of flogging an aging game like this forward is when they'll shut down the servers. Current employees of Kabam will move on when that time comes, like those who built the original game and those who replaced those folks.
What’s concerning here isn’t just the “not listening to feedback” comments, it’s the fact that you guys keep making decisions that simply scream “we don’t know our playerbase” which at this point is starting to become incredibly annoying and tiring. Whoever thought paywalling ascensions for new champs was a good idea definitely takes the cake when it comes to those horrible decisions, and setting a cap on essentia would absolutely be another one just off the top of my head.
Firstly, like to take this opportunity to thanks @Kabam (Osaurus) Rex (Mike) for responding (especially on the weekend, his days off).
I do believe what you say Mike and it does help (at least for me) answering the Third points on my previous post.
However, something to consider, while no one expect all top end players and CCP are sensible, reasonable or correct with everything they say, it does feel that dialogue and communication between the two parties (the players and Kabam) are not really productive, if the Kabam genuinely open to listen to experienced players (which honestly believe you Mike) then why do many have express their feeling of feedback falling into deaf ears?
Why is it so hard to have a healthy dialogue like what you wrote here and for these players to know they are being hear and Kabam are taking action to fix problem on a products that we (Kabam and the players) love. Let face it, this is not the first time CCP and experienced players express this feeling of "feedback falling on deaf ears).
Secondly, @ItsClobberinTime hit the nail right on the head, there are a numbers of decision and implementation that just scream "we don't know (or care) about our players (customers base), or even worst "we don't even know our own product", and honestly it is really got to the stage where the players themselves have stop care as it is too tired to get angry.
To add on top what @ItsClobberinTime already said.
There are many more I'm sure, but these kind of design decisions and implementations that make the players (customers) based feel like Kabam have lsot their way with MCoC
