Epoch challenges or act 9.4

The last two Carina challenges are coming out a bit at the same time as Act 9.4, so now I'm having doubts. If what they say is true, the Epoch Challenge will be 1 path with all the Champs plus Ares as a boss, which will definitely cost a lot of revives, especially since you have to do both heroes and villains, and what does it give as a reward just a 4-5 class gem. I think Act 9.4 will give better rewards, especially because when completing Act 9.4, I'm setting the entire Act 9 to 100%. I think it's smarter to spend your revives on Act 9.4 rather than the Epoch challenges, because I think Act 9.4 + Act 9 100% has much better rewards. Only downside is that u don’t get the first appearance meastro but i dont care about meastro

You'll need both to become Elder so for anyone doing that, this doesn't matter.

But you may be right otherwise. All you get is 2 3→4 gems, Ascension 2 Maestro, a terrax relic, and a R5 gem crystal, 3 GECs and some more relic sig stuff

We don't actually know what the epoch gauntlet rewards look like. As far as we know it just covers the Carina challenges rewards, but I think it's likely the quest will have its own rewards built in as well. That could just be a title and profile pic though

Both are permanent content, so there is no rush. You can take your time on deciding which to complete first.

Epoch is not for everybody. I have not yet done it because I'm not a huge fan of the class restrictions.

I'll only do Epoch if I want to, and if it has rewards that I MUST HAVE. If not, I don't even stress it.

I'll be doing 9.4 though. I don't mind questing, and It's required to unlock Act 10. I just completed 9.3 last week, and will be going back for exploration.

About ~5-10 revives on final boss.

And at most 4-5 revives in all 18 paths making random silly mistakes.

I think with the iDoom 9.3 boss, I went 18, 12 and 3 revives. But I did it the day of with no watching videos or planning. The rest of 9.3 was 2 total

I'll be doing Carina's first for two reasons - first, why both will almost certainly be done before May 13th, I always do the thing with a timer first in case something comes up (since there is the First appearance Maestro). Second, since I know I will be dying to Ares, the one boss I am terrible at, I can farm revives up to April 8th and use those 20% revives more effectively against Ares as every death helps your damage and doesn't natter if you heal or not. We don't know if you'll need to heal more for the 9.4 boss or if 20% heal will do good enough.

Carina challenges. History says 9.4 will be bugged when it drops and it’ll be a month before they get it all sorted and it’s playable.

Well then save up those 4 hour crystals, and just grind revives from the daily quest and daily event and spend units.

I think it just comes down to preference. The first 4 carinas challenges appear to be much easier than the Epoch ones. There is a logical cut off point in rewards after the first 4. You get the T5A, the champ selector, awakening gem, and the level 1 ascension for maestro. We have to do 9.4 for Elder either way. Personally I will complete the first 4 carinas to get my 1st Rank 5. Then focus on 9.4 for my 2nd Rank 5, and then use alliance coliseum, other events to eventually get my 3rd Rank 5 for Elder. I didn't love the Epoch event when i did it originally. 24 fights plus Ares…twice seems like more than I want to take on. I totally get that better skilled players than I will grind it out and they deserve to get the Elder title before I do! Again, its a game, do what best suits your time and interests. Here's my additional question, since it applies to if we are able to do the final two Carina's challenges, because the rewards for completing 4 of 6 challenges gives you Ascension level 1 tokens for Maestro, and the rewards for completing all 6 of the 6 challenges gives you material for level 2 of Ascension for Maestro, but the rewards don't actually include Maestro at all.

The TIMED reward which if you complete all 6 by May 13, gives you a Shiny First Appearance Maestro as a reward… but if you end up doing all of the objectives after that fact, you have all of the materials to Ascend a Maestro… but don't actually get a Maestro?

Yes, a 7* Maestro is the reward from 100% completing Necropolis, so there are a lot of players looking to do these objectives that already have a Maestro. But the game has moved so far past the Necropolis rewards and it's been years since that content has come out - so it stands to reason that there are a lot of players that never did that content at the time, or like me did a Completion run but not a full Exploration, that are in a position now to be able to do these Carina's Challenges.

So if we do them, but don't get them done before May 13, we'll have all these resources to Ascend a Maestro but won't actually get a Maestro? Is that correct?

That’s the way it looks to me. If you haven’t explored Necro and you can’t finish carinas by May 13, no Maestro.

I´m in the same boat only completed necro no exploration and was thinking the same. Will do all objetives before may 13, just in case.

I know it’s cool here to say story is easy - and I don’t think it’s hard. Usually the final boss fight costs me more revives because it just takes me a while to get the fight down - more than most here I am sure.

I have done both ordeal objectives…. But again, more health pots than most. Stilll have a bunch of revives. Now comes abyss… and I am just kind of over it. Do I have the roster for it? Yeah… but I am anything but excited about it. I didn’t really enjoy ordeal, and won’t be enjoying this next round. And will altogether skip the final two.

Again, I have the roster, resources and plenty of units. I just simply don’t like these slogs. I don’t feel like I accomplish anything grand since I struggle with it more than other end game players.

9.4 will be much more chill, but I would rather err that way personally. I would arguably like a more middle ground option between end game story and the next 4 carina challenges (especially that last two) but the game rarely finds that window where the rewards match.

as for maestro.. I never explored necropolis and 99.9% sure I never will…. So those ascension tokens might as well be 3 star shards for me.

just one player’s perspective and how I play the game. Not knocking those who play it differently either way.

you’re correct, you would not have a maestro to use those materials on, if you miss the May 13 deadline. However, like you mentioned, he is in necro exploration if you wanted to use those resources still

I'll weave in 9.4 before completing the last Carinas, simply because you get the opportunity to r5 a champ when you've explored Act 9. That seems like a good thing to get done before going into the Epoch gauntlet. Just choose who you think will be your MVP in there and r5 them, then you'll have an easier time in there. Presumably there are a lot of other rank-up mats in 9.4 (and the Act 9 rewards), which might help you rank up other champs that you might need. It just seems more sensible to funnel the Act 9 rewards into exploring the Carinas rather than the other way around.
