Is Scorpion a good champion for BGs?

Have an R4 science gem and was thinkig about give it to Scorpion or Spider Ham. I have a developed roter in general and my main focus are BGs.

Trying to decide I see some videos about Scorpion but I´m not really convinced. I try the heavy cancel into sp2 with an r3 at Bgs and the damage doesn´t seen high. Maybe I´m not using him properly. Also I don´t think that nowadays he can be a good defender.

What do you think about this? Ascend Scorpion or better go with Ham. Both are awakened and high sig.

Like most of the banquet champs, Scorpion has been very good but not great for me. I have him r4-200, don’t use him in BGs very often.

IMO, the hype exceeded the impact for most of them.

I have r4 scorp, in bgs he does more for me on defense tbf. I still put him in my deck, as I don't have many r4s, and he's ok to fight against Niko. I think ham is better for bgs in almost any fight where you don't need immunities, but I only pulled him after I ranked scorpion, so my ham is to stay at r2 for a while

Have some inmunities on my deck for Nico so maybe ham is the best option for BGs. Thanks for the advice.

Personal experience on banquet champs.

Hulkling - Performing really good in both war and BGs.
Nimrod - Still visible in BGs. Not so much in war.
X-23 - Absent from both BGs and War.
Valkyrie - Performing really good in BGs offense. Has really good niche uses in War.
Scorpion - Rarely seen. Has some uses in war.
Jane Foster - Can't comment. Rarely seen but I've been hearing really good comments.

Kingpin - Rarely seen. Has some uses in war.
Absorbing Man - Top tier in both war and BGs.

Totally agree. I see more videos and I think that Scorpion is more a war/questing champ. Definitely I will go with Ham for BGs.

Surprised most of these comments are essentially calling him mid when the range and survivability he has are still pretty good, I think a lot of it stems mostly due to people not knowing how to use him for certain tricky matchups.

Cooks Abs, Kindred, Nico, Enchantress and will also be cooking Magik and Madelyne (not to mention single handedly made old top mystic defenders Rintrah Sassy Mangog Dragon Man Doom Man-Thing Mojo Mephisto completely useless); works for Zola, Onslaught, Photon, Gentle, Thing, Hulkling and Solvarch; I think the main issue is the average player isn't going to be doing crazy ones like Zola, Onslaught and Photon without losing a good chunk of hp.

Anyways, for me personally way better than Ham and by A LOT; he's almost always on my deck, and he is in pretty much 90% of the decks if you play in the mid to highish leagues in GC, not sure about Celestial but I'm sure about the rest so I disagree strongly with the people saying he's meh cause he's really not if you know how to use him for those tricky matchups I mentioned.

Also, he just does this consistently to Kindred

As I say in the firts comment, maybe I´m not using him properly. I see some incredible dmg but my heavy cancel into sp2 doesn´t do so much. I was thinking in ascend Scorpion before Ham and after some trys I did this post becouse I wasn´t sure.

Apart from heavy cancel into sp2, how is his best rotation? Do the most posible debufs with mediums? Spam heavys?

Maybe I have to try some fights again with the best rotation.

The heavy charge is only recommended for matchups where you can't stack a lot of your debuffs (Onslaught, Photon etc) but for most matchups you're better off either spamming sp1 (Zola, Kindred etc) or just spamming sp2 (Solvarch, Nico, Thing etc). I've tested all his rotations and they're usually the same in terms of speed, with the only difference being the heavy charge one is extremely risky and can go terribly wrong if AI doesn't play ball, so if that's how most people here are using him then I can see why all the "meh" comments. They are using a risky rotation that 75% of the time is pointless, if you can stack enough debuffs properly just go for sp2 or sp1 spam you don't need any extra burst damage.

Scorpion is definitely very present, and at least in the top 2-3 for the entire science class. As the post above me said, just prioritize mediums and sp2s for most fights, and weave in sp1s when needed. I’ve really only used the heavy charge for torment on long form content.

Yeah I'm still holding off on my Awakening Gem - have Valkrye, Nimrod, and Jane Foster and still have no idea who to invest in and who will do well. I also have X-23 but she got the shiny dupe already.

As Scorpion is not available in the basic pool and there is no information about its next appearence, I awakened mine (and put it at 200).

In my humble opinion, the question is: is it a (very) useful champion?

The answer is: yes, it still is.

Don't do it. He's my single most regretted R4 next to Imperiosa. A lot of others i know that grind BGs regret ranking him / barely use him (occasional use in nuke metas).

Also be very mindful of Youtubers that utilize clickbait titles for revenue/profits like Nick136, who falsely inserted God Tier Science Champion in the same title as Scorpion (lol)

He is one of the most used champs in Mysterium from my own experience where exactly do you play? Genuine question because I see a lot of comments like this and the truth is he is a God tier science champ indeed purely because of versatility and survivability, BGs isn’t really about speed these days unless it’s specifically a nuke meta but the range he has more than makes up for it
