How about Debuff Reversal as a mechanic? Any Debuffs the Opponent would apply on Kilgrave have a chance to be applied on the Opponent instead?

There'd need to be a way to negate it, eg ability is paused for 10 seconds after getting Knocked Down, reducing the reflected Debuff's Potency by 50%, or something.

Maybe he'd cause Miss as well. After all, he wouldn't want you to hit him, and you wouldn't want to do something he asked you not to do...
