Why can’t endgame content work like Crucible so we can still do other quests congruenrly?
With the new Carina challenges sending us back into Epoch of Pain + Ares in gauntlet form, I think this is a fair question.
One of the main reasons I dread content like Necropolis or long gauntlets isn’t even the difficulty, it’s the fact that once I’m in, I’m locked out of everything else (aside from Arena/BG).
So while I’m doing endgame content, I can’t:
• do my Daily Super Event
• do daily quests
• progress side/event quests
• complete routine objectives like solo raids
That just feels ridiculously outdated!
We already have a system that solves this: Crucible.
It’s long and demanding, but you can still go and do other quests alongside it.
So why doesn’t this apply to all endgame content?
I’m not asking to run multiple endgame quests at once.
I’m asking why we can’t have one long run active, while still being able to do normal content around it.
For example:
• I’m doing Necropolis or the new Epoch gauntlet
• but I can still dip into EQ, side quest, or daily quests etc
Because realistically, not everyone can sit down for 3–5+ hours straight. People want to dip in and out, not feel punished for having a life outside the game.
And this Carina challenge is a big ask:
• Epoch of Pain was already top-end difficulty
• now it’s a full gauntlet
• and it has to be done twice (#hero / #villain)
That’s an absolutely huge time commitment.
If I’ve missed something and this is being changed, fair enough, I’m happy to be corrected.
But if not, this feels like a basic QoL update that should already exist in 2026. It would make endgame content more accessible and far less stressful.
And yes, AI has been talked about enough, but it matters here too. If long runs are already stressful due to inconsistent AI, players shouldn’t also be penalised for stepping away and coming back later, or risk missing daily/weekly objectives just because they can’t finish everything in 24–48 hours.
So to conclude, my the question is:
Why can’t all endgame content use a Crucible-style system where one run stays active, but you can still play the rest of the game alongside it?
I’d be interested to hear what others think, because this feels like something that should already be in the game. 🤷🏻♂️
