Is Elder progression even necessary?

When Kabam announced Elder progression, I saw it as unnecessary given that the experience as valiant is subpar

Valiant sometimes get paragon or thronebreaker selector rewards till today

Elder are now still getting paragon or valiant selector rewards

I am going to be Elder this year but I am totally not interested in pushing early for it

At this point in the game, I don't care about any rewards and the rewards for Elder are just slightly better than valiant

Is creating a new progression tier even necessary?
Does it helps the game to be better?

Sidenote: We still don't have leaderboard for prestige, I can't track who is having the highest prestige in the game right now despite all the money Kabam made, having a new feature in the game is nearly impossible

It's pretty much going the same way Valiant did so far. So my answer is eh?
The main positive will be better opportunities to spend money in sales just like Valiant and actual earnable reward upgrades will fall to the wayside and be lumped in with a lower progression just like Valiant.

I don’t have elder FOMO so I’ll get there when I get there, but equally I don’t have Photon or Maestro and I want both so I’m going to finish off the carinas asap. I’ve done the first 9.4 run through and it’s wasn’t too bad so I’ll probably get through exploration by the end of May maybe mid-June. Not rushing that one.

Every new progression title has been handled the same way.

There will be a sale with new "Elder" exclusive deals and maybe some dummy content with Elder only access in the future, or Elder only special objectives. Then you will have people criticizing those objectives in 2 ways. Some will say the rewards are not worthy, and others will say its pay walled cause people can pay for r5s, that they have the skills and roster to do it and they shouldn't be locked out from those objectives.

Only issue i have with this statement is this time, elder is 100% ftp friendly. No spending needed to become one. Unlike valiant was.

I guess in a round about way they arent wrong. Spenders keep the game going, leading to more progression titles in rhe future?

We were definitely in need of a new progression title considering how vast the disparity between Valiants could be. If you know what the titles are for it should be obvious why this was a problem needing solving by the Elder title.

Whether it does that well though… eh.
