Did i waste my dust on locked 6* champs when ascension doesn't matter on 6* and only on 7*? Or am I reading things wrong?

I definitely used them for collectives and so they didnt expire, but was also did this before there were any announcement of that trade in token, and i definitely ascended a bunch of 6* champs like Groot, Daredevil Classic, Airwalker, Annihilus, Cosmic Spidey, Ms. Marvel and Kamala Khan, Captain Marvel, Drake, ikaris, The Champion, Hela, Blackbolt, Rogue, Captain Marvel, thinking it would have mattered when the champs really have no business getting ascended....

@Kabam (Osaurus) Rex @KabamPinwheel can this be reversed? I used most of the dust I had when y'all said it was going to be the highest rarity champ and now the 15 champs that I've wasted my dust on since the collectives have been announced and basically day one of Elder availability. Once again, if things were clear and transparent I would've waited and just got one of those T2 dust tokens in the Mysterium store.

Dissapointed and irritated would be putting my feelings into a positive and professional way.

Yep did the same thing. Had a TON in overflow after 9.4. No announcement on the trade in token but we had just had the mid-month stream about collectives. I ascended a bunch of champs only available as 6 stars just as you did such as OG Cap, OG Daredevil, Iron patriot, etc.

When they announced the trade in token like 2 days later I was annoyed but thought at least I boosted my collectives through the 6 stars. Then yesterday come to find out that even that consolation was non-existent. Two separate gut punches because Kabam does not plan anything out properly anymore. This year has been a disaster.

While there is a slide from a Twitch stream that clearly says “7* only”…

…is this the optimal way to communicate such a significant change in the game? Is that slide on a page on forums, or on social media or other comms channels? How long was that slide onscreen?

If anyone knows, that would affect how I view OP’s issue.

I’m not apologizing for OP, but I tend to think this is a prime example of the ramifications of a fragmented comms strategy that’s been part of the game for a while.

Then again…it tracks for a game that can’t get prizes out in a reasonable time period, can’t get the objectives for a major event up and running before the event, etc.

To the couple replies saying “what was not clear”..

First, I believe OP said they did it BEFORE there was announcement about TRADE-IN. So thus prior to Collectives dropping in game yesterday. And probably even before Streams giving some details.

Was probably earlier, just vague initial reference to Collectives, and definitely when there was NOTHING else to do with that Dust, which would have eventually expired.

Submit a Support Request, asking to reverse those 6* Ascended. Might only be possible if you have not used those champs (so maybe only some reversible).
But Kabam is also aware that many people Ascended some 6’s before there was any announcement about possible alternative/trade-in/etc. Don't know if they will offer some general remedy to everyone this affected, or just via support tickets individually ?

to clarify, the slide i posted was from the Collectives Livestream on 17th april, 7 days before Kabam announce the T2 Dust Token.
If someone ascend 6 Stars for Collectives before the Collectives Livestream, that was announced even more earlier, they should not blame Kabam.

Kabam often do mistakes where they should be blamed, but in this case every info was given from kabam.
lately everyone blame kabam nevertheless if deserved because in the recent past Kabam had some major fails😅 and its like a contest of who can blame kabam more for clicks

then good luck with the support! you may had better changes if you would write a ticket 3 weeks earlier when the slide/stream happen. But maybe they have mercy because its a new complex feature.

Yeah I re read the orignal post. Kind of on OP though. They did it for Collectives. And where did they get the information that Collectives would give points for 6* Ascension?

At a base level I agree—but it’s ridiculous the game has multiple comms channels and you have to catch the one slide that answers the issue or search for it on someone’s stream.

As for 6*’s—the initial Collectives discussions suggested your roster (not just your 6/7* champs, and not ending at R4 6*’s) would be relevant. There was plenty of room to think that ascended 6*’s might matter.

In the end not at all. It’s just 7*’s plus whatever 6*’s you have who aren’t 7*/you haven’t pulled as 7* yet plus 5* Quake.

So, there was nothing else to do with what would be expiring Dust, other than to Ascend some 6*.

It was nice that Kabam added the Trade-in, if only to extend out by about a month WHEN they would eventually expire (not sure people could have even envisioned this amount of Empowered crystals and potentially new 7* coming from this Collectives rankups)

But lots of people “wasted” on earlier 6* ascension, hopefully Kabam can maybe restore some of that Dust for people to use on proper 7*.

(Some others might have been waiting until last day of that initial “Expiration” to see if Kabam would add/change anything about it. But at the time, there was NOTHING ELSE.)

While the information is technically there, it's just poorly formatted from a UI perspective. Instead of "Ascend a Collective Captain" and then hiding the 7-star requirement behind the (i) icon, Kabam could have written "Ascend a 7-STAR Collective Captain". Just like how they make the 7-star callout for Sig levels.

Since the Ascend method doesn't call out 7-stars like the Sig method does, it is perfectly understandable for most players to think that any star level Collective Captain benefits from each method except with the Sigs method.

I myself wasted mysterium ascending a champion, noticed that it didn't increase my point total like I thought it would, then clicked on the (i) icon.

There was never any indication that 6 star (or 5/4) champs would increase your collectives. And there was no reason to use up the dust before it was going to expire. It was a bone-headed move.

But, I still hope you get your dust back. It doesn't really affect game balance for you or anyone else to have a few extra ascended 6 stars. It would suck if you can't get an A2 for lack of dust after putting in the work to 100% act 9.

dont forget never tests or care about quality control in general. This whole collective is just a way to push crystals again. The damage for end game players will be about the same, they will raise the health of new content and add protections, and nerf things like echo damage. This is all a rip off.

People do realize not everyone watches the livestream, right? Whether it's because they don't have the time or the access or even interest? Saying so and so slide this and that isn't grounds to be dismissive of said knowledge. Especially when said knowledge is easily accessible in a non-video format after the fact. I know it was damn hard for me to find any information about Collectives prior to the release aside from people pointing to the livestream.

But I'm sure I'll get downvoted just like I did when I asked for more information. More power to ya, I guess.
