Battlegrounds is becoming exhausting for F2P players

I’ve been pushing Battlegrounds as a F2P player and honestly I’m reaching a point where I feel burned out.

I spent around 1k units just trying to get the last Stellar Blade piece, fought through a lot of difficult matches, and somehow managed to climb all the way to Vibranium VI. But now it feels like I hit a wall.

My roster mainly has R4, R3, and even R2 champions, and I keep getting matched against what feels like full whale accounts with stacked rosters. At that point, it starts feeling less about skill and more about who spends more on their account.

I know Battlegrounds is supposed to be competitive and roster progression matters, but competing against accounts with significantly stronger rosters feels almost impossible as a F2P player.

I tried hard, spent resources, pushed through difficult matches, but after seeing loss after loss, I’m honestly losing hope and motivation.

Any other F2P players feeling the same, or am I just hitting the normal BG wall?

Its not a F2P thing, its just a fricken grind. Same rosters with the same defenders over and over again.

Totally normal bro , everyone is sweating for the blade piece , if your deck is not full of r4s or even r3s in vib 4 definitely gonna be hard , my best advice is wait for the last week to farm those last ranks , or just keep trying eventually you'll get luck matches , my deck had only 7 r4s and 2 r5s the rest all r3s and i managed to get in the circuit in the first week , lots of full pages of defeats win a game lose 5 lol , i am just to stubborn to stop until i get what i want but waiting for the last week is definitely the best play especially with this terrible meta .

I understand your point, the grind is definitely part of it. But for F2P players the grind feels even heavier because roster progression is much slower. Seeing the same defenders repeatedly is one thing, but constantly running into deeper, stronger rosters while trying to climb makes it feel even more exhausting.

Haha, if only it were that easy 😄 I’m not against spending, I just choose to play F2P. I’m fine with grinding, but the gap can feel pretty rough in Battlegrounds sometimes.

I get that honestly. Battlegrounds started feeling more stressful than fun for me too. At least the new side quest feels more enjoyable and less like constantly sweating every match 😅

Yeah I get what you’re saying, but even if I wait I feel like there’s not much to gain anyway. Those whale accounts are still going to be there with stacked rosters. Waiting might make it slightly easier, but it doesn’t really change the huge roster gap. 😅

In ur exact position. V4 ftp, deck mainly r3s, a few r4s and a few r2s. Haven't spent any units yet on victory shields but yh its such a grind. Lost 15 matches in a row in V4, genuinely not fun at all against massive accounts

Yeah we’re basically dealing with the same issue. I feel Kabam could’ve handled the Blade piece better though. Locking such a wanted reward behind an intense BG grind while everyone is sweating makes it rough for players with smaller rosters. The competition is fine, but the matchmaking and grind for it feels a bit too much.

Finally someone whos goin thru the same as me. I’m Vib 4 right now and I only have 1 r5, couple r4’s and some r3’s in my deck. Genuinely facing the same decks as a FTP is exhausting, if you’re not fast enough or you get shafted during your champion selections. Its a loss eveeytime. I had my longest loss streak ranged from 7-14 in this season.

It's absolutely terrible. You're not the only one feeling this. Most of the F2P community feels this way. But F2P don't pay the bills so it's not changing. Kabam doesn't care if your frustrated or if you're burnt out or frankly if you leave the game. That's just the reality.

I'm so burnt out, even if I get the piece, not sure it matters anymore, because it's making me want to take a long break from this game. It's feeling too much like a chore rather than something fun.

The end is near at least, technically we don't need to get to the GC, we just need to complete V2. Finally got out of the hellhole of V4 with a nice win streak after like 20 losses back to back, so close to the end now. V3 and V2 left and then finally done with BGs for a long time

Exactly 😭 finally someone who understands. People keep saying “just grind more” but once you reach Vib with mostly R3s and a few R4s, every match starts feeling stacked against you. One bad draft or one slow fight and it’s basically over against those massive rosters. The losing streaks are the worst part too, they completely kill the motivation to keep pushing.

Honestly, that’s exactly where I’m at too. At some point the Blade piece stops even feeling worth it when the grind completely burns you out. A game mode is supposed to be fun and competitive, not feel like a second job. Taking a break honestly might be better than forcing yourself through something that’s no longer enjoyable.

Same here 😭 I was literally one shield away from Vibranium III too, then I started getting matched against stacked accounts back to back. Lost like 5 rows straight and now I’m sitting at 0 medals in Vibranium VI. That feeling after being so close is honestly painful, especially after spending units on shields.

Yeah, this season feels way harder than usual. Even reaching Vibranium III with a smaller roster feels like an achievement at this point 😅 Every climb feels like a battle against stacked decks and nonstop sweating for the Blade piece.

That’s exactly the frustrating part. Spending units on shields and still not getting a single win feels awful. And yeah, every deck starts looking the same too …stacked with multiple R5s, full R4 defenders, and the same annoying meta champs over and over again 😭 It stops feeling competitive and just becomes exhausting.

One thing you should try is grinding more in the second half of the season than the first half. The nature of BG is that stronger players tend to win, and winning causes you to get promoted (in VT). This means every single player you fought up to now would not be in VT anymore in a week. This is intentional: in fact one of the stated reasons why VT now grants two victory points per win is to promote stronger players faster with fewer matches, which means they get out of VT quicker and they face fewer players as they do.

This used to be common knowledge (well, after I started harping on it constantly) but apparently a lot of today's BG players aren't as aware of this property of VT. The best strategy for weaker players is to play a couple matches to test the waters in the VT tier you're in, and if it seems too strong take a few days off and come back. Don't push harder against strong competition - even if you spend your way to promotion, you'll just promote into a higher VT tier that will contain, on average, even stronger players.

You have about two weeks left. Use them.
