BG season punishingly unfair

So the season just ended and I could not break into Gladiator o matter how
Much I tried. The tactics were terrible, and all I was matched with ever is Elder, legends accounts with R5 stacked rosters. I had 20 loss streaks probably twice. Even when I won, I lost on seconds worth of time. It is so grossly unfair that the final blade piece was gated behind this. I came within one victory of making it then lost three straight as the time expired. This makes me never want to play this game ever again. Sure plenty of people will just say “get better” but that’s simply not the case. I wouldn’t even play this mode were it not for the final Blade piece and now I can’t get it. Truly angry and disappointed right now.

Same here. There are many of us bro. When you see that not even the "pros" were able to do it in some level of fairness(just watch F2P Seatin), you see how ahh this game mode is. It hurts the whole game, and even the Marvel IP. And IK that some trolls will come say shi, but that's what they live for, so F them. After this I remember why I quit the game years ago.

I don't play BGs much and stated in gold and made it to GC.

I don't have a stacked deck (I'm FTP) or anything special so I really don't understand why people keep saying this season was so bad.

even “half price” is outrageous if the regular price is 2500 units or such. I should have been able to get this with plenty of time to spare. I have never had any issue making it to Gladiator circuit before this season.

according to GC ranks, 24k players reached GC this season which imo is way more then previous seasons lately, you may not like it but this proved it can get players into the mode. How did you get the piece for SL? Cause this ain’t the first time a piece is in BG.

Personally, I missed the SL piece. That’s totally on me. But this season I played daily from day 1 and had a tremendously difficult time breaking through each rank. Significantly more than any other season.

All that tells us is that nobody wants to play BGs. In other words, BGs is a dead mode that nobody cares about except for when there is a chase piece.

All I know is that I can get every other piece without too much trouble - but BGs was so unenjoyable that I didn't even make it into Vibranium, let alone GC. I could've ground more and probably made it, but it's just so boring - even when I won I was just like "yeah…cool…another…?" Honestly, the best part was when an opponent forfeited - because it meant I didn't have to grind through the match.

Unenjoyable is definitely the right description.

I really disliked this season; although that's partly because I dislike the actual BGs mode in general, so tend to resist taking up the best BGs champions. So, partly self-inflicted wounds, there 😉

The Attacker health remaining change to scoring was the worst thing - it meant the only thing that mattered was the fastest kill; with no possibility of adopting a different playable, and games frequently won or lost based on the most cooperative AI. If your spend ten seconds baiting out a special, that's enough to lose; which just feels crazily punishing.

If it hadn't been for the Blade piece, I would have stopped playing BGs at all, weeks ago.

I got him at the last opportunity; literally 25 minutes before close… 🎉

I was playing around with the off-season meta and im not sure if that’s gonna be the meta for next season then it might just be as bad as last seasons meta 😭😭

I spent the time I would have been frustratingly spending in BGs but instead on arena, and I can afford the piece without having to reach GC.

Its not like there wasn't an alternative.

To everyone who couldn't make it, all I can say is tough luck. Your pain and frustration is totally understandable. I was among the lucky ones who made it to GC, but I was tempted many a time to quit this boring meta.

Unfortunately, we have to accept that this is the way going forward for the remaining stellar forged pieces. At least one piece of each SF champ will be in BGs. Whales and accounts with big rosters will always have an advantage in this game mode. FTPs have to do with available options like growing the account, strategizing drafts and bans, bringing champs relevant to the BG meta, stocking up victory shields etc.

Remember, even if you dont acquire the stellar forged champs, it will not be the end of the world. Stellar forged doom could be an absolute banger of a champ, but that's only one champ. There are plenty of other fantastic champs in the game that you may not even miss SF Doom.

It will be interesting to see what's talked about, and what's not, in the Livestream tomorrow.

I'm happy for those looking forward to the next BG season with it being a 'back to basics', but the last few seasons have killed off all enthusiasm for BG. It's not for my roster, wallet or spending my time.

same here. Hardly made to gladiator circuit but couldn’t reach tier 1.

I got within one win twice within the last hour, even using victory shields bought with units. But when it’s a pattern of win one, lose five it makes it impossible. I think going forward pre-gladiator circuit you should not lose tokens of you lost a match, you should just not gain. That’s more fair and far less punishing. I get that in GC having a rating that changes based on win loss makes perfect sense, but prior to that it feels demotivating punitive.

The point is not whether there was an alternative route for the piece, the point is that many players felt cornered into going that route against their will and in some cases there are players that absolutely had no choice but to go the alternate route. Put this piece in literally any other BG season and the conversation changes almost entirely (because we can't get rid of all complaints).

Kabam's focussed on their whales and not the wider community's experience, and BG experiences like these just keep the disparity between FTP players and whales increasing. And while there will be some players who are FTP and who do reach GC, they're the exceptions, not the rule. Sorry to hear about your bad BG experience, you're not alone.

Don't get your hopes up on BG postmortem in the livestream. They won't dwell much on this season other than, maybe, the customary "We heard your feedback and we'll take this into consideration going forward". Stellar forged pieces will still be a part of upcoming BG metas.

I was stuck in Platinum and kept moving one step forward two steps backward. I’m torn between ranking up champs who are good defensively for BG vs those that I enjoy playing. Not sure how far I will be left behind for future BG seasons
