Phyla-Vell was released yesterday and videos from content creators have started to come out.
Since Kabam's last stream, I really liked her design and kit, so I went after her and got her after 120 crystals.
Watching the videos, something caught my attention: Attributes like armor or energy resistance are influencing her damage, where she deals much less damage against Solvarch and Red Skull, for example.
Up until then, everything was normal, if it weren't for one single detail:

Probably the change in the eco damage mechanics isn't interacting well with True Damage. What must be happening is that the damage of the special itself is ignoring the resistances and the eco damage is being calculated separately. I would even discuss the possibility of this being intentional, if it weren't for the fact that she deals practically no damage with her specials. It wouldn't make any sense for this to be intentional, since the tech class is composed of champions who, for the most part, activate armor bonuses or some type of resistance, and she is a cosmic champion.

This is how that always worked. Resonance is Energy damage, so it is calculated through Energy Resistance. That was true pre-Echo damage change and afterwards.

It definitely shouldn’t be affected by Armor Rating though. I don’t have her myself to test that, but if you have proof that her damage is somehow being cut down by Armor then that’s worth posting as it would definitely be a bug.

So if I’m reading the ability right, the hit damage is True Damage, but the resonance echo damage is still energy damage. So the base hit damage would ignore energy resist but the bursts would still be reduced; that ability just prevents energy resistance from ‘double-dipping’ by reducing hit damage, then reducing the echo damage that was calculated from the hit damage. I don’t think that’s a bug?

I think that if the intention was to be intentional, this true damage on specials wouldn't even exist. Especially since critical hits already ignore a good portion of the opponent's resistance, and she accumulates many precision buffs; almost all the hits from the special attack already hit critically and ignore part of the resistance.

If it's intentional, she'll be extremely inconsistent against practically all defenders in PVP content because people use energy resistance attributes and stat relics with energy resistance. Even the matchups against Arcade and Ruby, which are the two that make sense to use her against, won't work well.
