Original Spider-Man (fix the broken rework)
The current rework of original Spider-Man made him useless against players with “Willpower” due to excessive debuff healing the players and making OG Spiderman completely useless.
Here’s a fix that should help him because apparently “Will Power” was not taken into account for his rework.
The biggest criticisms of Spider-Man (Classic) in MCOC: his damage is tied heavily to debuffs, and Willpower turns many of those debuffs into healing for the defender. That can make him feel like he’s helping the opponent more than hurting them in certain matchups.
A few changes could dramatically improve him without making him overpowered:
1. Convert Webbing to Passive Effects
Instead of Webbing being a debuff, make it a passive effect.
* Prevents Willpower healing.
* Keeps his utility intact.
* Similar to how many modern champions bypass debuff immunity issues.
2. Add Rupture or Physical Vulnerability
When reaching 3+ Webbing:
* Apply a passive Rupture effect, or
* Gain Physical Vulnerability on the opponent.
This would give him real damage outside of SP2 bursts.
3. Punish Willpower Directly
For every Taunt or Webbing healed by Willpower:
* Spider-Man gains a Precision or Fury passive.
* The opponent’s healing effectiveness is reduced.
This would turn a counter into an advantage.
4. Stronger Spider-Sense
Increase his utility by:
* Guaranteed Evade after a Special Attack. (Unless fighting against an anti-evade champion)
* Chance to miss non-contact attacks.
* Power gain when successfully evading.
This would make him feel more like Spider-Man rather than just a Taunt champion.
5. SP2 Should Scale Harder
Currently his damage is decent but not exceptional.
* Add guaranteed Critical Hits on stunned opponents.
* Increase SP2 damage per active Taunt.
* Add burst damage for each Webbing consumed.
6. Unique “Web Trap” Mechanic
At 5 Webbing:
* Opponent becomes Rooted for several seconds.
* Reduce combat power rate.
* Prevent Evade and Unstoppable.
This would give him a unique niche that few Science champions have.
If Kabam were to make only one change, making Webbing passive instead of a debuff would probably have the biggest impact. It would immediately solve the Willpower issue while preserving his identity as a control-focused Spider-Man.
Another change to make him feel really unique would be to give him his own fighting style like Marvel’s War of the Gems (SNES). I do not like that Kabam also has Deadpool fighting like Spider-man.
