Week One of Towers is now in the record books. Although both the Skill and Mutant Towers are still going to be around and progress will still be made on them for the remainder of the current Towers season, Week One offers us a clean glimpse into player activity for just two towers. How did we do?

In Week One we scored about 2,331,197,040 points. That's significant because the top milestone (the one with the Warlock ascension token) is at 5.25 billion points. As I've mentioned previously, to reach that score we would need to average 875 million points per tower, or 1.75 billion points in two towers. We actually scored 2.3 billion points in Skill and Mutant, and that bodes well for our ability to reach that final milestone. Of course, we aren't going to collectively score the same amount of points in every tower, but I think at this point it is unlikely we will fall dramatically short in all four remaining towers.
You can see in the points chart one of the reasons why we're so far ahead of the curve, so to speak. Starting on day three (48 hours in) the curve jumps up a bit. That's almost certainly the result of the twitch points starting to be collected by players. By my rough estimate I think somewhere on the order of 200 million points or so in the first week came from twitch points. We would still be significantly ahead of the 1.75 billion pace we would need to maintain, but an extra 200 million or so definitely helps.
It also helps the players collecting those points, because as discussed in my earlier posts it was 3400 points, and if we extrapolate that to all three weeks it amounts to 10200 extra tower points. That dramatically reduces the tower blocks that need to be cleared to qualify for the top milestone, which requires 35000 points on the part of the player. Reducing that to 24800 points reduces the block you have to reach (on average, per tower) from block 76 to block 62. That is huge because block 76 generally requires a very strong and very wide 7* roster, or a very optimized mastery set up, or both for most players. Block 62 just requires having sixteen 7* champs in the class, maybe a few of them ranked to R2. See the links below for an analysis of the roster requirements to reach which tower blocks.
It will be interesting to see how a couple of upcoming things will affect point scoring. The first, relatively small one, is the announced increase in block skips for the remaining class towers. That should boost points in a couple ways. Players doing minimal participation (and there's always a lot of those) will in effect be scoring more points. And players grinding points will get there faster, and that might encourage them to push higher.
Of course the monster event that should significantly affect Towers is the
July 4 Summer Sale event. Your maximum block achievable is strongly affected by rank ups, and there's bound to be a flood of them in a week. I'll be watching my Tower ranking to see how much effort it takes to (try to) maintain it. My guess is it will take a lot.
