Dear lord, do not take any information from a movie regarding the X-Men or related good/bad guys.
As a huge comic buff I'll try to explain.
Mutants are the next step in human evolution called Homo-superior. We are Homo Sapien.
Homo Sapien mutated from Cro-Magnon man, and Cro-Magnon mutated from Neanderthals and so on.
Now I'm not going to get in a debate about real life evolution and if it is or not considered a type of mutation. But comic book evolution regarding Marvels Mutants it is.

You seem set on the radiation from the nuclear bombs being the cause of mutants so heres a simple way to fix that false belief. How is wolverine considered a mutant if he was born just before the 1900s. Nuclear fallout isn't the only source of radiation which is part of the reason you aren't on the same page as everyone else I believe. Radioactive elements have been around as long as the earth. Mutation didn't depend on the nuclear bombs being dropped it. Also go outside during the day and look up, you'll see another pretty obvious source of radiation in the sky. Also mutations can be from damage caused during gene replication at any point that wasn't caused by radiation at all. So in short, yes, apocalypse is a mutant. End of story. If you feel the need to still "discuss" how he isn't then read my post again for the various examples of how I explained he is.
