Is There Such a Thing as Solo Progression?

I've been playing this game for two years now and am starting to feel like I'm deadlocked as far as progression goes.
I'm finally starting to gain a decent amount of 4-star champs and almost have a 5-star for each class (I'm missing a Science type) but awakening/ranking them up is just taking too long. For example, I currently have enough resources to rank up my 5-star Gwenpool but I'm missing one T4 Skill catalyst and it seems like it's going to take me weeks to get it. There are over a dozen other champs that I'd like to rank up but at the rate I'm going, it feels like it'll take years to get them to where I want them.
I wish I could take advantage of Expert/Master level rewards but I'm just not there yet. I'm stuck in the Heroic difficulty where the rewards just aren't as good. Outside of completing the Road to the Labyrinth (Currently at Ch. 3-6) or the Story Quest (Currently at Act 4-4-3), it seems like the only form of progression in this game is tied to the alliance.
But what can I do when my alliance isn't a competitive one?
We only run Map 2 in AQ and do AW irregularly with only one BG. We miss a lot of alliance milestones as well. Everyone is technically active but less than half actually participate in team efforts.
The obvious answer is to jump to a better alliance... But I really want to focus on solo progression rather than end up in a group that expects highly competitive output or where I'm in danger of getting kicked if I'm not online for 24 hours or my champs aren't up to top-tier standards.
I'm more of a casual player and I just don't see many opportunities to earn the basic T4 catalysts, shards, or awakening gems that each champ demands. At best I can get three, maybe four, T4 Basic Catalysts a month but you generally need 5 or more for each champ. T4 Class catalysts and T1 Alpha's are even more rare... And unless I pay $50+ for special bundles, I don't see how you can get 4-star awakening gems!
Are there any good solo tips so that I don't have to rely on a high-level alliance to rank up my champs? It just doesn't look so encouraging to me right now.
Thanks for looking and any help is appreciated!

You need to join a better alliance and do at least map 5. It's not too demanding, but you will not progress much by your own compared to the rest of the players.
Secondly: Give master a push! Even with 5* Gwenpool at Level 2/35 you should have a good shot, since they lowered the difficulty of Master when they introduced uncollected... Even if you only do the initial clear, it‘s worth it!
My advice is to save the 4hr crystals for the first 3 weeks of the month, 100% heroic then give master a shot in the final week, you'll have heaps of free **** so even if you find it hard you should get through without spending. I do this every month with 4/40's and one R5. I don't bother exploring because the EQ gets boring by that point.
Do as much arena as you can, not to grind your thumbs off for a rubbish champ you'll never use but to collect PHC and Arena shards.
You are only competing with your own expectations, aim low and you'll never be disappointed
I'm a solo player who doesn't do any alliance questing. It is possible to advance; and it's definitely been getting easier over the last six months. I've been playing since the beginning; free to play, and this is my roster:
(You'll notice a lack of high PI champs as I've not tended to buy Featured Hero crystals; but my top champs are all 5/50, most are Awakened, and they do stack up well as a team.)
You need to focus on 100% completing Heroic Event quests, then making progress in the Master levels. Even if you can't complete Master level content, you could 100% the first chapter for 15 T4CC shards, plus the 10 you get for 100% of Heroic. 25 T4CC shard crystals makes 1/2 of a T4 Class Catalyst, and you should be able to do that every monthly event.
Save up your free 4-hourly crystals as a source of revives and healing; and use them to complete RoL if you haven't already - fun to do, and more T4B included in the reward. RttL takes hugely more effort!
I don't recommend wasting your time collecting extra T3 class catalysts - you need to sell hundreds of them to make a T4 Class catalyst.
Instead, focus on acquiring Loyalty and Glory crystals, which you can use to buy catalysts in the store.
Also, try and build up a stockpile of units through questing and arena grinding - there are occasional offers which involve Tier 4 Class Catalysts, but usually well over 1000 units.
Hopefully some of those tips will help - I felt I wasn't progressing; but once I got through RoL and started getting some champs to 5/50, it all started to feel do-able again. Good luck!
30 member alliance + RNG is not a good combination, you can do Map 5 20 days out of the month and still not have one fully formed Class Catalyst and a Alliance mate can get 10 of them.
Let alone trying to keep 30 people together doing the same things over and over month after month is just as difficult as playing the game
Not mention there are a lot of let’s say socially awkward people who play this game and have no business being in an alliance with other people.
So... You're a solo player who doesn't do alliance quests, but you want the OP to focus on Glory... Strange advice.
I don't recommend the bolded part. Other than special offers, you only get 1k shards per daily deal. It takes 36k shards per t4cc, or 36 deals. It takes 3 t4cc to rank up a r5 4*, or 108 deals. It costs $4.99 per daily.
That is $538.92 to rank up a single r5 4*. If you are willing to spend that kind of money, wait until an actual deal comes out, as they are random.
The rest, about doing at least map 3 in an alliance, I fully agree with.
