Ranking question

Is a 5* rank 2 equvialent to a 4* rank 4?

For example would a 4* rank 4 gwenpool be equvialent to a 5* rank 2 gwenpool?

Yeah pretty much. 5* r2s have slightly higher stats than 4* R4s. Like maybe an extra 1 or 2K health and a slightly higher attack rating but yeah they're pretty much the same. Likewise for 5* r3 and maxed out 4*.
