Sigh.. Is anyone else having their specials blocked after the update?

Having trouble chaining specials. As you know, the biggest problem isn't just missing out on damage, but the inevitable retaliation you experience after the special is blocked. Which, btw, is interesting as we cannot usually punish a special if we block it.. but, I digress. I experienced it in war and decided to run a test in 541. Using different champs and trying different combo enders. Here's what I have so far.. Luke cage can still successfully chain specials regardless of combo count/enders. Hela cannot chain a special with a 6 hit combo. X23 can only chain a combo on MLLLM. Out of the 5 champs I tested on that run, only LC could vary his combo count/enders. All others could not chain a special in any other combination besides MLLLM. Which is really a problem for many encounters as you don't always use MLLLM for every fight or every opponent. Think about fighting evade champs such as Ultron, bw, Spiderman, nc, etc. Think about using awakened voodoo.. This seems to just have started today..Happening to anyone else?

Just to clarify, some champs could not even chain onto a MLLLM. Just realized I didn't mention that part.

Since last update i have struggled to chain specials with several champs to a 4 or 5 hit combo. Not sure why. It also seems to vary with opponent. They all seem to work against ROL WS, but in some fights in quests they got blocked.

Yeah and I'm having problems with timing, blocking and evading which caused me to get crushed in some fights.

I think the bottom line is that the AI hit stun recovery has finally been reduced to a point that is no longer acceptable or playable. Their recovery times for other functions have been reduced as well. Throwing a medium for instance. Try punishing the AI for doing a medium combo ender on your block in war fight..It will not go well for you. They will often parry or even dex/punish YOU instead. Then, try hitting THEIR block with a medium and see what happens to you. Heavies have also become extremely difficult to punish as well. Never attempt it if the AI has a bar of power. You will get an Sp1 to the face. The recovery time which is causing our specials to be blocked is the "hit stun" recovery however. This is also the cause of players (including myself) also experiencing retaliation immediately after ending their own combo. Our champs are recovering from throwing a combo ender slower than the AI is recovering from being hit by one. It's as simple as that.

Thank you for posting that. That is precisely what just happened to me in a war fight. The first war of the season. It was actually even more dramatic than that. I was actually able to see it without slow motion. I had 3 specials blocked and lost an attack bonus.. on a fight that I normally would have sailed through with zero hits received.
On the third and final special, I actually saw my attack make contact, the opponent ignores it as of in an invincible frame, then throws up a block, then the word parry pops up on the screen. In that order. I am finally knocked out from this third and final retaliation after getting my special blocked. So, this is actually effecting the score of my entire aliance in our first war of the season. Unreal.

This is today's war. Luckily GR has enough distance when parried and this was an easy opponent. Lost no health in this one, but seemed to be a good shot of what is happening in almost all my war fights.

Chain is already through him, his arms are still not in the full blocking position (he folds his arms when blocking), yet the damage and parry marker are popping up already. What am I missing here?

Happened to me too. Chained plenty of specials out of MLLLM, over half got blocked. And they weren't even attacks with huge start-up lag. GP, AA, Iceman, SL sp1, Thor sp2.

Yeah, just fought the final modok boss and didn't even try to throw a special. It's the only reason I still won the fight. He's one of the champs who you really need to be able to chain a special to 3 and 4 hit combos on. As well as evaders and the like. And if I can't even chain a special to MLLLM, there's no way I'm trying a 3 or 4 hit to special. Tried and failed in the last war.
So, in a sense, I have adapted to this new dynamic by changing my play style. However, the boss fight was real close and had I been able to land specials it would have been over faster and the full attack bonus would not have been at risk. It could have easily gone the other way. This is clearly an unfair disadvantage in an on-season war fight and we need someone to fix the issue. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Oh, just to report everything accurately.. in the miniboss fight before hand (medusa/tile 55), GR did successfully chain a special 1 onto MLLLM. Maybe in some cases it does depend which character you are fighting. However, once again, Medusa is yet another champ that you need to be able to chain specials on with shortened combos. Specifically, one hit combos:) which I was always able to do before these occurrences of late.

These really are serious issues. Think about magik's sp2 getting blocked against dorm or hyperion. Think about Stark spidey's sp2 getting blocked in a power shield fight. There are many reasons why this is a serious unfair disadvantage to any player this is happening to.

So, I have also noticed prominent you tubers (Seatin, BG) are getting some of their specials blocked sometimes now as well. Seatin had about a 20% success rate in his red skull rank up and game play video. Also saw BG get his specials blocked during arena play. Most of the time he didn't notice as he generally reads chat while playing:)

Of course Kasham did it on purpose. They dont want you to win the fight without using potions or revives. Look at the adaptoid they placed in UC. Money grab.

Sp are definitely getting blocked more often and they need to fix that. You almost can’t use a special unless you parry them then use the special.

No, no..
Search the forum. There are about 30 champs listed to take on UC Adaptoid and Red Skull.
One of them is Ronan. He definitely isn’t a moneygrab.

But specials are getting blocked far more often, especially after combo 5. Combo 4 however and then chaining the special hasn’t failed me yet. Hate having to keep it in mind though, since it’s definitely not all champs that suffer this.

It wasn't happening to me till the time I decided to do the Gwenpool event Quest on epic mode, aftet that, most of my specials are being blocked like they're not even worth taking a hit
it's the main reason why I had difficulty in quests (idk about arenas haven't done one this month due to lack of time)
