Does MCOC app run hidden background processes causing Heat n Lags???

With the heating and lagging introduced with version 19.0 and now again with 19.1......we have noticed that even when game is idle and we are not fighting...it still lags and heats up device.
This is a sign that Kabam is running some heavy background processes in their app without us even knowing what they are! Anyone here has an opinion on this?
