The main significant differential between something Active and Passive is that Active effects can be affected by other modifiers (shrugs, nullifiers, node-based reduction or extension) whilst Passive effects can't be. Fate Seal will therefore prevent original Iron Man gaining his Arc Overload; but won't stop IMIF gaining his passive Armour Ups. There are no 'Passive debuffs' - debuff (by current definition) means an Active effect. However, Kabam has been stretching the definition more and more lately; especially with champs such as IMIW. This has led to occasional oddities such as Wasps 'Passive Stun' being able to affect enemies on debuff-immune nodes, but not those on Stun-immunes nodes. Very few champs (Gladiator Hulk being the only example I can think of) have abilities triggered when they are afflicted with Passive effects.

Goldpool has a synergy with AV that makes their bleeds passive now so CB, AV, KP, Blade, etc can’t shrug them off or reduce their duration. It’s pretty nice actually.

Therefore, it doesn't nullify "passive" abilities. Passive buffs don't exist, and saying that will only making it worse for when you try to know more about character abilities

So what would you call IMIW’s molecular armor?

So what would you call IMIW’s molecular armor? Passive armor maybe? A charge that gives him more armor? Anyway, this game uses the word "buff" and "passive" in two separate ways. If you want to join the two together it will be more complicated to understand every ingame ability

An armour passive or regen passive is still a “buff” but they keep rewriting the rules because they were short sighted when handing out abilities when it came to interactions with other broken concepts like original WP and MD. Can you imagine how ridiculous a champ like ST would be against a magik if his regen stacks weren’t passive. Anyways the guys that make this game can continue to make weak excuses/reasons for why abilities don’t work anymore but at the very least they need to do periodic rank down events to account for the endless backwards nerfing that’s become the norm in MCOC. The medusa/IWIM interaction is ridiculous imo, she’s not even an old champ and already they just nuked her ability 🙄

Just use L2s and only use MM combos when he has armor. I know it’s not as easy as hit an L1 and forget about it, but it’s not like the end of the world.

Yeah I know how to fight iwim, initially I actually thought it was a great idea to get everyone’s Medusa off of AWD and cause some organic diversity, it’s just more frustrating because they are clearly on a medusa retirement kick right now. It’s not the end of the world for me I pulled a 6* proxima and it’s great for the fortunate guys who manage to get the new champs early im just not a fan of the ongoing retirement/backwards nerfing strategy they’ve adopted.

Unfortunately that’s the trend that most ongoing games adopt. As the game changes and evolves, champs become more obsolete. I’m not saying it’s right that they do it, or even target specific champs, but that’s the game. That’s how they are able to keep things fresh. People are starting to realize the trinity isn’t the be all end all now too. I remember when Ultron was the ultimate defender and was the main AW boss. Now I don’t even see him on defense anymore.
