Mastery Help and slowing down special attacks

So I've started to get the hang of this game now and I'm beating players a few thousand higher than me but where I keep parry and hitting etc there special attacks build up they go red and I die is there anytning I can do to slow it down like with mastery and can people post pics ofbthere mastery thanks
