That's what I figured, but I thought they based his character from Civil War.

    Why?

This trips me up every time this event comes up.
Ww2 cap is one of my only 2 4/40 on my second account and was thinking I was killing the event but when I looked I had zero points. Lol

cap america was the first avenger....
however... at the the time of WWii there was no other avengers....
it was the birth of Cap...
who then later started the Avengers...
so yes Cap America is a founder of the Avengers...
however as WWii variation Avengers did not exist...

He wasn’t apart of the avengers during WW2. Wooulldnt make sense to have him as an avenger if he is from 1962(I think, I can’t remember right)

He was with the All Winners Squad, and the Invaders. Do we have tags for them??

i said "a founder" as in a founding member.... he was an original avenger.....
yes nick fury created the avengers.... but he was never an avenger himself.....

Only in the movie. He doesn’t show up till a few issues in, comic-verse wise. His “founding member” status is honorary.

tbh i really think the first avenger thing comes not from the fact that he was the first member of the avengers but the fact that he is the oldest superhero that becomes and avenger.....

For sure. In the published history, even, Cap predates the first issue of Avengers by 20 years, when it was still Timely Comics, and Stan Lee was just a teenage aid.

That title was a cheap marketing ploy to hype up the first Captain America movie.

    It worked for me...
