What makes Gladiator Hulk so good?

Greetings, Summoners.
I was wondering why Gulk is considered such a good champion, I'm aware of the amazing "Face Me" mechanic, but other than that I can't find anything in his abilities and gameplay that particularly stands out. Any explanations would be appreciated. Thanks!

    I love his utility even with out face me he is still a beast he hits really damn great he is one of my favorite champs to play

    He is amazing for various game modes, particularly variant. Some chapters have the annoying starburst node which gulk can counter and with the correct synergies, can give off some impressive damage output.

    When you need a poison immune champ with easily repeated heal block, he's your guy

    A lot of people who love him also do map 6 AQ which has starburst paths, dorm, Maw as mini bosses. So he he is seen as an amazing champ there

    Ghulk is one of those "best at what he does" champs (like Magik for power control, Namor for damage back, Warlock for heal block). Passive DOT like Starburst, Limbo, Aura of Incineration, etc. He's nearly unkillable in those situations. Also regen, heal block, some unstoppable, a very fun aggressive playstyle, solid damage, enervate, and stun. Part of some good synergy teams too.

    He is certainly not a specialist. Yes, he has match-ups that turns him beast mode, but he can pretty handle all other fights as well.

    You need to fight aggressively and be able to bait specials in a short time period. Then you can keep up the crowd excitement. The stun helps, certainly to finish off at the end.

    Oh and don't forget Domino's critical failure and Mephisto's aura activates Face Me as well. That covers some of the most used defenders.

    In fights where face me is active, he's good. If it isn't, he's pretty mediocre. When I was choosing between him and rulk, rulk won because of higher damage in most fights. He also ramps pretty fast vs magik, dorm and meph. You rarely see passive damage, so imo it's ok to rank him off it's one your biggest pain in the game.
    Finally, I'd say namor is better then gulk, as you have heal available and don't need to take damage to be good - that's what I hate most about gulk

    Variant and AQ god. Great for problematic story quests as well like mr.sinister. Heal block, enervate, stun, poison immunity and the best utility: face me for all those fun and interactive damage

    Maybe late to comment but I don't think he's that good at all. I regret taking him to rank 3 and he's Awakened. Against normal fights he is a wet noodle and his Specials never do over 10k. He is only good against certain nodes or champs. Kabam has totally botched both Hulks. They should be 2 of the hardest hitting pure damage champs and they aren't even close. Pretty bad...
