Alliance gifting event problem

Just joined an alliance and contributed to the gifting event by trading a couple of ggc's. Still, i couldn't claim any rewards from the alliance event, although i contributed more than enough. It keeps telling me that I didn't join in time. Does that mean I won't be getting the rewards at all? Would appreciate some help.

    I think once an event starts, it locks out new members... But idk for sure

    Did you get those milestones from a previous alliance? If you did, no double dipping

    Either that, or you have to be a member for X amount of time before you can claim rewards....
