Why is this path closed?

I just picked up the tech key before teleporting to this path. And still this path is blocked? Does the game want me to replay a full path just for a couple of defenders ?? What gives ?

You have to finish the quest t claim a key, anything in the chest storage you have to finish the quest to receive
