War counted towards season??

My alliance won the 5th war, our rating went up.
It was stated that war rating wouldn't be affected by the 5th war and points scored from that war will not count.
However war rating did change but as far as we know the points from that war will be removed.
The cascade/snowball/cumulative effect of subsequent matchmaking has been explained many times but let me give this as an example.
Our 5th war match up was a close war that we only just won, only 15 war rating between us and for the purpose of this example let's assume we had a similar points tally in the season.
As a consequence of war rating not being frozen, we now have a war rating 100 points greater than theirs. This results in us facing the likelihood of a tougher match up in war 6 without the points benefit from war 5.
In fact in our next war we faced an alliance with a rating 100 points greater than ours and no surprises, we lost.
The alliance we faced in the 5th war had a much better chance of an easier match up and winning their 6th.
At this point, there's every chance they won their easier war, we're both back to the same rating, fought the same number of wars but they're now 250-300k points ahead. We beat them fair and square in war 5 but end up disadvantaged as a consequence.
Season has to be scrapped or wars 5 and 6 discounted and war ratings reset to what they were after war 4... Seems the only way it can be done fairly.
The leaderboard is compromised and can’t be fixed. Start fresh in Season 17. Now is the time to end it, given the extra break in matchmaking between war weeks.
Points translate into war rating. War rating translates into rewards. If the points are skewed, the rest are skewed.
Kabam issued a statement that wars 5 and 6 would have no bearing on war tier or rating, prompting players to strategically withhold item use if they wanted to. Win or lose.
I absolutely can argue that people shouldn’t have advanced or dropped in these wars. It’s not a matter of opinion. It is fact based upon Kabam’s public statement.
If an alliance that earns 6* shards on a win was told they would not progress or regress in a war then lose and drop a tier and no longer win 6* shards on their next victory, they are now out resources they would’ve rightfully been entitled to, had Kabam kept their word and there was no bug.
The debate is about rightful compensation, not whether or not alliances are putting in the effort to win resources.
Above comment stands.
They said it would change and it would be manually adjusted later. That's about it. They didn't say no one would move as a result of the bug. Quite the opposite, actually. They said it would still happen. The results of the bad War are not going to count for the Final Ranking. So regardless of where you go from there, it's not going to matter. If you moved, you will either win or lose based on what you do moving forward. Which means you win or lose Shards you earn, and you advance or go back to wherever you belong. One War doesn't mess up the entire system.
Case in point: June 2019 6.2.2 Mr. Sinister boss and 6.2.6 Champion boss were bugged. Upon bringing this to kabam’s attention, they said:
"I understand that you want to be compensated. Please note that there is no bug issue with this quest. As mentioned in the previous response, please post your feedback in our Forum Page with regards to this case."

So I took to the forums along with others.
Two weeks and an explosive forum chain later, Kabam issued compensation.
Same deal here. Something is wrong, people are asking for the fix. Not a free handout or a “write-off”.
Integrity is all we’re asking for in return for our money, attention, time, and commitment.
They can either do nothing at all and end it in 2 weeks as originally planned while all this justifiable frustration from your customers continues to grow. Or they can end it early as they have done when something similar happened in the past. No compensation needed. Give everyone their current season rewards and fix the bugs before next season’s schedule start date. Really straightforward actually.
Needless to say we lost the war, lost war rating too as I dare say a lot of people did and dropped into P3 for the next war.
Obviously we absolutely flattened our P3 opponent today, beating them by around 3:1 on the K/D ratio and them only being able to take 3 paths to the boss island and not explore. Doesn’t look like they spent a lot on the war - for them it looked like they’d sacked off the season already from this. I wonder how many others are in this boat. No way we should have matched this alliance when they’re sitting around 300-400 places lower than us once the discrepancy is sorted out.
also, out of interest what tier AW do you play in?
What I’m saying is it is not as feasible to fix the season at this point, or worse, Kabam may just tell us all to pound salt and move on. I don’t like to attribute malice, but the pattern is:
‘Bring up an issue, be told there is no issue, insist, then be told that there will be no compensation.’
Sometimes Kabam comes through and does right, but the more likely outcome is @GroundedWisdom takes to the forums and douses attempts at detailing the extent of the problem and what is reasonably owed.
We knew the war wouldn’t [shouldn’t] count. So we put in effort, but saved items for wars we knew would [should] count. Would’ve used them if the understanding was the war was to count. We may have still lost, but the opportunity was lost due to a faulty/false premise.
I know a number of alliances willfully took that opportunity to use top champions to do quests and got shafted even more. Multipliers open up a massive gap in rating if the season isn’t being presented properly.
