If you have similar AW rating then it was a fair match. A fair match would be also a 50mil ally if you had similar rating. Aren’t you after the same rewards? Fight and earn them if you think you deserve these over them.

You do know that alliance PI rating means almost as much as Pulling a 2 star from the hero crystal when you need a 1 Star.

That alliance could be all fluff. 100 maxed 2 stars. 100 maxed 3 stars. A bunch of maxed 4 stars. Per summoner. Alliance PI rating means nothing. It’s your prestige and war rating. If they are a 2300-2500 war rating and you are too then you deserve to be fighting these alliance. Even a 60 million alliance with a similar war rating and prestige deserves to be in whatever Bracket they so chose to be in and play like.

Stop crying about alliance PI rating and begin crying about serious things. Like if you’re matched with an alliance of a 2800 war rating and you’re a 2300.

So those deserve the rewards over you, because they grind/payed for these rosters. They haven’t be given to them. What makes you believe you shouldn’t go against them while being at the same AW tier? Your ally probably shouldn’t be there from the start.

You can always not do wars. The system is the system. And till they get around to making it fair I have just said no. I am slowing down my rate of ranking up champs and doing the base level of playing for a better quality of life. I guess I am extending the time line till I finish the game. I don’t want to get burnt out from having to always set timers to make sure I move and de node paths to allow others a more easy path. I know it’s a shame to have spent the time we have devoted to our love of this game. But honestly I am choosing loving life more now.

My ally is over 38m and losing pretty consistently in gold3 this season. Granted, we've been getting matched against alliances as high as 43m. The matchmaking algorithm is just as dumb as it ever was.

This is a weird one. I have faced 50 million top 5 aq alliances in a gold 1 war. I wouldn’t focus as much on hero rating as I would prestige. Hero rating is utterly meaningless. War is just screwed from top to bottom. We were rank 6 in plat 4 and matched a plat 3. We ended up in expert map which is fine but only received 4.5 multiplier. We won but because of multiplier the team we beat nearly scored as many points. The system is just broke as all hell, but it’s broke for everyone

This may seem pedantic, but I'm going to say it anyway. You can't keep an alliance out of "Platinum 4." Platinum 4 is the bracket you're in if you score a particular amount of season points. We could magically move that alliance to Gold 1 or Platinum 3, but they would still be matching against the same alliances. They'd just have a different amount of points.

You could say that a 35 million alliance should never match against a 30 million alliance, but how are we going to enforce that? We could just sentence all 30 million rating alliances to permanently never rise above a certain tier. I don't think most 30 million rating alliances would think that was fair, but the only way to make sure alliance X and alliance Y never match, ever, is to make sure they are in different ratings, forever. We can't sentence the 35 million alliance to a lower rating than the 30 million alliance, because that would just cause them to fight even lower alliances. So the only thing we can do is sentence the 35 million alliance to always have a *higher* tier than the 30 million alliance, which is tantamount to saying all 30 million alliances are forever barred from rising to the same war tier as all the 35 million alliances. No matter how much they win, they will never go up, unless of course they raise their alliance rating with rank ups.

The suggestion often made is just match by both war rating and alliance rating, so even if the 35 million alliance and the 30 million alliance have the same war rating the 35 million alliance only matches against other 35 million alliances at that rating and ditto the 30 million alliance. Which makes sense if we're talking about 15 million rating alliances at 1500 war rating. There's lots of those. But at 35 million alliance rating and 2500 war rating (or whatever) there are very few alliances, possibly as few as one. Such a match rule cannot be honored when the alliances thin out, and you have alliances with no possible war match or the match system trying to shuffle alliances in weird ways to find the closest possible match, plus pairs of alliances facing each other over and over again.

Any match system that doesn't factor in wins and losses, and *only* factors in wins and losses, is going to end up doing stupider things than a system that just focuses on win/loss record metrics.

How do you know they aren’t platinum 3 or higher ? Platinum 4 is just a level of rewards you get. You get matched on rating, you have a multiplier based on tier, which is based on the percentile your rating falls in.
You’re comparing apples to hot dogs here. There is a 300 point spread in war ratings from top to bottom of platinum 4, it gets smaller as you go up.
The matchup you have is perfectly normal, but if you think alliances should be placed in rewards brackets based on their rating instead of ranking, you should really reconsider. That would likely put you in line for gold 2 rewards.

War matching based on war rating is fair. If you only get easy matches of course you’ll move up but eventually things level out and you fight someone way stronger than you because you have the same rating.

Anyone who has a problem with this is just looking for a reason to complain. If you’re not able to keep up and take the fights at a higher level, you don’t belong at that level.

It's not based just on war rating. I got sick of war and joined an alliance for a season that doesn't care about war. We are in silver lol. Alliance prestige is around 10k. War rating is around 1250. 32 million+ group. Every single war we've played this season has been against a fairly similar group. We haven't had one war against a much lower group with a similar war rating. The upshot is if we cared and wanted to climb up to gold or plat it would be a slog against similar alliances the whole way. If it were based just on war rating we'd have had many wars against much lower groups. I'm not complaining as I don't care about war atm but war rating is just one factor that goes into matchmaking.

my alliance is a 25 mil ally. we are t5, gold 1 almost made plat 4.
what is funny is how little rating means. we have guys with just over 1 mil rating that dies about 6 times more atleast than guys with 700k rating.
i can assure you now a 30mill ally full of guys the caliber of the two 1mil accounts i am talking about will get their ass kicked by 20mil allies.
but a 21mil ally full of the 700k rating guys would probably beat 30mil allies all day.
rating means squat.
only a persons top 8 champs are relevant for war>
and their skill.
and then thirdly their desire to spend units/glory on potions.
